MX Home Launcher: Written Android App Review
We see a lot of apps here at the Android Apps Review. In fact, we see lot of the same apps, a lot of the time—not that we’re complaining of course! However, the sometimes hefty nature of our workload makes us appreciate the truly rare gem like MX Home Launcher, by developer NeoMTel. Your home launcher is a personal decision that can drastically affect the usability of your phone. When it’s done well, as in MX Home Launcher, it can be a truly beautiful thing to behold. If you’ve been waiting for a killer home screen app, wait no longer. Check below the break for our full rundown on this awesome application!
Concept and Functionality
As mentioned, MX Home Launcher is an home screen modification app for your Android phone. If you’re not sure what that means, we’ll explain: All of the apps resting on your home screen are really just embedded within a larger app called your launcher. All Android phones come stock with the manufacturer’s variant, but you’re free to change it out at any point in time. Why would you want to? Typically for a mountain of new features, or a better look, as is the case with MX Home Launcher. So what’s it offer?
First and foremost, MX Home Launcher focuses on the 3D aspect of your phone. The app offers everything from an auto-tilting clock that works with your geo-sensor right down to a better looking app drawer. That clock screen we mentioned also comes with a boatload of quick settings and snappy fixes, helping you to rapidly turn on or off your WiFi, for example. Add to this one of the smoothest editing experiences we’ve ever seen, and you’ve got one heck of a bargain. Navigating and adding new items to your home screens could not be easier.
Design and Graphics
Obviously, the look of the app itself is one of the most important aspects to be discussed. So we’ll get straight to the chase: This thing is gorgeous. The stock coffee theme is a bit trite for some, but either way, the experience is unbelievably sound. For example, the 3D rotating between home screens is spot-on, as is the wobbling clock. In fact, we even liked the redesigned app drawer, which is a bit more utilitarian than most stock Android launchers, though still very aesthetically pleasing. Of course, if you don’t like the look of the launcher, you’re free to change it at any time, thanks to the mountain of available themes on the Android Market.
All in all, it’s hard to best an Android launcher that’s free, comes with a pocket full of content, and looks to seduce just about anyone. If you’ve been looking for a replacement launcher, we aren’t quite ready to say MX Home Launcher is the best, but it certainly competes well. Best of all, the free price tag means no initial commitments. Overall, it’s a solid build worth using.
