Football Tactics: Written Android App Review
Are you a big fan of football? I don’t mean NFL. I mean the world’s most love game, where teams of players take on one gigantic field, and one black and white ball, in a battle of the fittest and the most strategic. I thought you might. That’s why I had a blast reviewing the new Football Tactics Android app by mrmobi. Let’s see if you have what it takes to throw down on the green.
There are several options to choose from when setting up a new game in the Football Tactics Android app. You can choose to play against the computer, or play multiplayer in pass-and-play fashion. You can choose from several different teams, all with different names and player makeups. When you’ve made up your mind and it’s time to hit the field, you can choose whether you’d rather start out on offense or defense. Then it’s time to hit the green.
I love turn-based games. It makes everything play out a bit like a game of Risk. And the turn-based gaming style translates really well to a game of soccer in the Football Tactics Android app. Not only is it cool to plan passes, move your team into strategic groupings, and launch yourself at your opponent’s goal, you can tackle other players for control of the ball. I love it.
It’s also very cool that the app gives each player strengths and weaknesses, adding to the strategic feel of the game. Between moves you can see a breakdown of each team’s moves for instant analysis. All that’s missing is a cheering crowd or an ump.
Layout & Design:
The graphics in the Football Tactics Android game are decidedly 2D, with a retro vibe I found kind of fun. It is sometimes difficult to make sure you have the correct player selected. The small squares that the game is broken into made me feel a bit fat fingered at time, which was slightly frustrating. Otherwise, I think the game is easy to play and understand. There are several tutorial screens (which you can turn off if you so desire) and a helpful overlay that gives you the lay of the land upfront.
During July, the price of Football Tactics is $1.99, a price that the app description in the Google Play store says is reduced. I can only say that I find $1.99 a fair price for this game, and hope it doesn’t climb too high after the sale period is over. Football Tactics is fun, involved and a lot more interesting than I thought it would be, as long as you don’t mind the slow turn-based rate. That being said, it could use a graphics overhaul. I highly recommend checking this title out while the sale price holds.
