Alchemy Classic HD: Written Android App Review
Alchemy Classic HD is a recently-updated title from developer NiaSoft, available on the Android operating system. Based on a popular game with a similar game style, this app features a unique mix of puzzle-based game play with alchemistic themes, and has been immensely popular on the Android Google Play Store. Interested if Alchemy Classic HD is the right gaming app for you on your mobile device? Let’s go!
Game play in Alchemy Classic HD follows a basic setup: Players must master 4 elements and combine these to create advanced life forms. Elements are Air, Earth, Fire, and Water. Players take these elements and turn them into everything from relatively simple bacteria to large mammals. Hence, the name “Alchemy” in the title of the app (although it does not involve turning different metals in gold or silver). If it sounds familiar, it should come as no surprise, as the game is based off the original Alchemy hit game. The developers have reported that they have permission from the original creator to use theme and elements in this newest app version. Game play mostly features drag and drop movement of various elements on a “gameboard” style interface. There’s also scrolling selections of various creations along the sides. The elements are easy to move and feature neat “alchemy” animations when combined appropriately. There’s a neat sense of “wow” that occurs when a player combines just the right elements to create the object desired. Science fans will certainly appreciate the attention to detail in this puzzle app, as many of the creations follow a relatively logical design approach. It’s really quite fun and rather addicting, as there is always a feeling of “I wonder what will happen next if I combine these two elements…” Fans of RPGs with item creation mechanics, like the immensely popular Minecraft, will certainly appreciate this “crafting” style of puzzle game. There is a surprising amount of depth in this app and it beckons the user to further explore it for the best experience.
Alchemy Classic HD has a nice set of low-key graphics. They appear polished and professional, not exactly jumping out at the eye but still very sharp. The layout is a little overwhelming at first to figure out but the developer has kindly included an excellent 1 page intro tutorial in the app. Furthermore, as mentioned, the combining animations look slick and really get the creative juices flowing! I really enjoyed how the whole graphic set fit the overall alchemy theme nicely as well!
Overall, I enjoyed Alchemy Classic HD. It’s a fairly different gaming app from much of what is available on the market today. Alchemy Classic HD feels like a breath of fresh air in the crowded, action-focused Google Play app arena. The game play certainly isn’t for everyone, but the relaxing visuals, addicting game play and intriguing theme is a sure hit. The depth of game play in Alchemy is incredibly impressive on its own. Furthermore, it’s available for absolutely nothing (Free, hooray!) through Google Play and has very wide-range of compatible devices (Android 1.5 and up required), which is nice to see. I strongly suggest gamers looking for a new puzzle game on the Android take a closer look at Alchemy Classic HD, from developer NiaSoft, today!
