Memory Booster: Written Android App Review
When it comes to our Android phones, we really like to stay on top of our performance. We like to tweak the small things, boost the big things and trim out everything in the middle—all just to get that extra squeak when we check our Twitter. Thankfully, the good people at IMOBLIFE understand where we’re coming from, and have helped us out with Memory Boost. The app is a tremendous new way to ensure that you’re getting the most out of your phone’s RAM, and without any hard work or expenditure. For our full review, you need only to slide on down below the break.
Concept and Functionality
The idea behind Memory Booster is nothing new: We’ve seen it done in other places such as Advanced Task Killer, but the package that’s presented here is of the absolute highest quality. The app allows users to perform what has been dubbed a “quick boost,” or a rapid freeing of available memory on their Android phone. The program essentially goes through and closes any open apps that aren’t being used. The user is free to specify which apps these are, and can even add them to a white list for safekeeping. Memory Booster allows users to do this through the aforementioned quick boost at the touch of a finger, or there’s a more complex task killer pane that enables the common man to selectively take out apps at will.
The other cool part of the Memory Booster setup is its real-time performance meter. The app actively shows you how much of your memory is being taken up, enabling you to get a much quicker and deeper look into your phone’s inner systems. It’s a nifty feature, and it’s one we haven’t seen anywhere else in Memory Booster’s competition.
Graphics and Design
As much as we like what Memory Booster is packing, we have to admit: The exterior it presents simply isn’t that beautiful. Like its competition, the app is much more utilitarian than gorgeous, but then again, does it even matter? Thankfully, all of the features have been arranged in such a way that they’re quick to get to and even quicker to use. The settings tab can be a bit confusing at first, as it does come with an healthy learning curve. However, poke at it for a few minutes and we promise you’ll sort out the goods in no time.
Complaints about aesthetics aside, Memory Booster truly is a bargain. The app will cost you nothing on the front-end, though if you decide to upgrade to the pro version, you get a load of new features for your efforts. However, as just a simple utility to ensure your phone runs smoothly one hundred percent of the time, Memory Booster is a very solid way to go. The interface is simple, the features are powerful, and the overall appeal is spot-on. At the end of the day, this is what we expected out of Memory Booster and that’s exactly what we got.
