Treasures of Montezuma 2 Free: Android Apps Written Review
Russian app developer Herocraft has released the popular Treasures of Montezuma 2 as a freemium app on Google Play. While the developers are also well-known for their apps Art of War 2 and Farm Frenzy, they bring a new twist on addicting match-3 genre with Treasures of Montezuma 2
Treasures of Montezuma 2 is a true match-3 game with a few twists. Match up pieces of the same color, in 3 or more, to clear the board. Along the way, try matching up the gems that are embedded in select pieces to further score points needed to beat each level. Then, afterwards, spend the rewards you’ve received to build up the Heavenly City Tenochtitlan on a neat map of the lands screen. It’s fairly simple gameplay, but there is three modes to keep it interesting plus over 100 levels (wow!).
Running Treasures of Montezuma 2 on my tablet was a pleasant experience. It’s not the most expensive tablet, but it still handled Treasures of Montezuma 2, without any noticeable lag or stuttering. The sound was excellent and easily adjustable through the Menu Options. Furthermore, the app features a wonderful introduction tutorial that makes the game very easy to learn the basics of. In addition to this, there is a great Help section, accessible under the main menu, with the different icons and treasures encountered defined.
Graphics and Layout
Treasures of Montezuma 2 rocks an ancient theme throughout its layout. Users will be greeted by a neat Aztec warrior gracing the main menu screen, and get to choose their character at the start (male or female). The block layout screen looks like something out of a history book (in a good way), complete with detailed stone blocks and elegant crystals. Animations looks great and its quite clear the developers have been very careful to maintain a high level of visual quality with Treasures of Montezuma 2.
The match-3 genre of games is certainly an over-crowded market, especially on mobile devices. With such stiff competition, it may be very hard for Treasures of Montezuma 2 to break much new ground. However, the actual game is exceptionally well-done, with wonderful themed-graphics and a price that can’t be beat (albeit with in-app purchases). It’s a great example of a polished match-3 app with a variety of game play options to keep it interesting. If you need a new match-3 distraction, check out Treasures of Montezuma 2 for Android today!
