Audiobooks for Android: Written Android App Review

Reviewed by Sarah Hanlon

Have you ever felt like you don’t have time to read a great book? Wish there was an easier way to catch up on the latest and greatest fantasy novel without spending hours reading and straining your eyes? Going the way of the audiobook might be the perfect solution for you!

Audiobooks for Android, developed by, is your direct line of access to a wealth of books right from your Android device.  I won’t go into a great amount of detail about the website because the app is the main focus.  However, I highly encourage you to check them out if you’re new to the audiobook scene.

Concept and Visuals:

The app is very visually appealing and everything is easily accessible. Book genres are neatly organized, so it’s extremely easy to find what you’re looking for. Plus you can browse lists such as featured titles, hot books, and new arrivals to the store.

Audiobooks for Android runs very well on my Nexus 7. It’s fast and simple to use. I was a little annoyed with having to forcibly close the app to remove the app’s icon from my top bar. I’m very minimalist when it comes to task bars, and I’m quick to disable any notifications which stay open even when the app is closed.

The app is packed with features which will make listening to audiobooks a breeze. You’re able to download up to two audiobooks at a time directly to your device, or you can stream books instantly. Afraid of losing your place if you’re using the app on multiple devices? Fear not, for the app has automatic bookmarking capabilities.

Along with these features, you can play books in the background while using other apps. Also, you can create book lists so you’ll never lose track of what you want to listen to next.

The only thing I’m not very fond of is the fact that you can only open the app if you have an active wireless connection. For a device which is dependent on wireless, this is okay if you’re listening to books on a solid connection. However, this makes it immensely difficult to take books along with you on the road. You can download audiobooks to listen to at a later time, but I believe you’d have to keep the app open while on WiFi to do this unless you’re using a device with cellular data.

Audiobooks for Android is perfect for people who are looking for an app which will serve all their listening needs. has a great selection of books immediately available, so you’re sure to never run out of listening material. Though the app is free, the website allows you to purchase books individually or pay $24.95 per month for unlimited audiobooks.

Android Apps Review Details: Audiobooks for Android is FREE and requires Android 2.2+. You can download it from Google Play.
