Math – Multiplication Table: Written Android App Review
One of the things I love the most about technology is that it can be used not only for business or for fun, but also for education. Probably the greatest thing about tablets and other touchscreen devices is how intuitive and easy-to-use they are (most of the time). Therefore, it’s no wonder why education games such as Math – Multiplication Table are so popular amongst users with young children.
Developed by Online Science Classroom, this fun and simple game will not only keep youngsters entertained, but will also teach them valuable math skills.
Concept and Gameplay:
Math – Multiplication Table has a clean and simple interface which takes little to no time to get used to. It seems like it would be a very easy game for young children to navigate. Also, the game’s concept is extremely easy to grasp.
One of the things I like the most about the game is the fact that there really isn’t a way to instantly fail. Even if you happen to miss a couple of answers, it’s not the end of the game. Redemption comes in the form of a bomb which destroys wrong answers. If you answer enough questions correctly, all of the previous mistakes are erased. This is absolutely wonderful for kids who have a tendency to become discouraged, and it also helps them to set a goal of answering more questions correctly.
Each level features increasingly difficult questions, helping you to get into a sort of mental rhythm. There’s a great deal of repetition in each level, which is perfect because it helps the brain to recognize the problem right off the bat.
Don’t be fooled into thinking you have to be in school to take advantage of this game. Adults need to keep their minds sharp, too, and this is one heck of a fun way to do it. Heck, even I found myself trying to answer problems faster and faster each time.
Math – Multiplication Table also features a ranking system. You can see how well you did on each level based on the color of the star that is next to it. The three ranks are bronze, silver, and gold.
The only feature I think this game is lacking is the ability to track the problems that are answered incorrectly on each level. I believe this would be an invaluable learning tool which would help kids and parents keep track of the math problems that are the most troublesome.
I definitely recommend downloading this game if you have a child who is working on multiplication in school. It’s also a great game to help keep dusty adult minds sharp and alert.
The free version of the game only allows you access to three levels. If you decide to splurge and go for the $1.99 upgrade, you’ll unlock eight more levels and ads will be disabled.
