Android App Review by AndroidAppsReview.com
We like having a phone. In fact, we can’t think of anything that keeps us more connected than our lovely Android devices. However, what we don’t enjoy is the barrage of sales calls, unwanted contacts, and generally unsavory polls. Which is why we’re stoked to be bringing you today our review of Blacklist Plus, from Vlad Lee, a brand new way to prevent those unnecessary intrusions upon your daily life. If you’ve been looking for a call, text and MMS blocker on your Android phone, there’s hardly a better one to deliver. For our full review of this free application, you need only to slide on down below the break!
Concept and Functionality
As you might expect from that short intro, Blacklist Plus does one thing, and intends to do it very, very well. The app serves as the call screener the Android phone left out, allowing you to block those numbers that you don’t want without having to so much as lift a finger. You can also do the same for both SMS and MMS, meaning you can protect yourself from intrusions on any and all fronts.
The way the app does this is very simple—a fact we appreciated greatly. Firstly, it lets you setup a more traditional blacklist, which will automagically deny any requests from those numbers. You can specify the way in which the calls are dealt with; whether or not you want them to be hung up on or simply muted. You also have the opportunity to create whitelists, which are then used in conjunction with different block modes. Want to block all incoming transmissions? Just tell the app to do so, and then give it a whitelist of names you want passed through. It’s quick, simple, and hardly dirty. In fact, Blacklist Pro presents us with one of the more elegant and utilitarian ways to block calls we’ve seen yet.
Design and Interface
At first glance, you might find the rather chunky interface that Blacklist Plus is sporting a bit cumbersome. And in one respect, it is a bit bulky. Then again, amongst all of the options and menus, we quickly found that logic holds sway. A labelled button behaves exactly as you expect it to, and this is the same across the board. This means that you’ll very quickly be able to setup your lists as you want them, and then get straight to blocking calls.
Blacklist Plus’s isn’t the pretties interface on the market, but it does get the job done and then some. And at the end of the day, we hardly feel we can ask for more than this.
Especially considering the app is completely free in the Google Play Store! If you’ve been looking for a no-cost, full-proof way to screen calls and texts on your Android phone, this is one free option that will not leave you disappointed. With that in mind, Blacklist Plus earns a full recommendation from us.
