Concept and Gameplay
The core of Boxes In War HD really boils down to four different characters. These units, or boxes, form the backbone of all the action. There’s the commando, the Rambo, the terrorist, and the solider. Each has a unique behavior and specialty, and you’ll need to understand how to competently use them to beat the levels.
This is because the game will present you with a board full of boxes, as well as a stated objective. That might be to defend a certain item from explosions, or it may be to clear a path to a given block.
To achieve these tasks, you’re really going to have to think about what you can do with your men. You’ve only got a set number of turns, so you’ll need to choose wisely to progress.
For example, the terrorist blows himself up to clear a path to your given objective. Meanwhile, the soldier can only attack vertically using his grenades.
In this way, the action is a lot like chess: You’ll have to maneuver delicately favoring each unit’s strengths. Otherwise, the whole thing will come crashing down, and you’ll be served up a big, fat “Game Over.”
Design and Interface
One of the strongest things Boxes In War HD going for it is the fact that it’s been hand-made for the Android platform—quite literally. There’s no vector art here, nor any fancy computerized graphics. It’s all been delicately handled by the game’s creator. The end result is a title that looks excellent on the screen.
Sure, it’s not the best-looking title in the Google Play Store. The cartoony graphics have been perfect in other titles., whereas Boxes In War HD is perhaps best described as pleasing. But when you break it down, the graphics go hand in hand with the action, and the combination jives splendidly.
At the end of the day, Boxes In War HD is a great new addition to the Google Play Store, and if you’re looking for a fresh title to squeeze your brain through, this will do the trick. It’s unique, engaging, and comes loaded with enough interesting graphics and levels to keep you occupied for hours and hours.
All of this means Boxes In War HD is a stellar bargain, and a no-brainer four out of five star rating.
