When it comes to applications for the Android platform, we bet you don’t expect to have your socks wowed off by a file manager. In fact, you probably don’t even have a file manager installed. But if that happens to be you, we’re more than happy to introduce you to File Expert with Clouds, from the good folks at Geeksoft.

This application is the total antithesis of what you’d expect: Offering comprehensive file management wrapped in a lusciously good interface, stacked on top of a wealth of unique features. It really doesn’t get much better than this.

If you’re in need, slide on down to our full review.

Concept and Functionality

Over the years, we have used a number of different file finding utilities for the Android platform. However, we haven’t seen anything quite as total as File Expert.

Firstly, the app offers everything you’d expect and then some. There’s all the traditional file browsing, allowing you to have a peek at what’s under the hood.

But this isn’t just limited to your photos and videos. With a little nudging you can inspect your .APKs, your downloads, and just about anything else you might want to have a peek at.

From .ZIP files to spreadsheets, File Expert will pull it up for you. There’s even a recycling bin at your fingertips, just like on a Windows desktop.

All of this can be integrated directly with a cloud storage service, as well. This is particularly handy if, like us, you frequently use services like DropBox to keep your life organized (and backed up).

With only a few taps of a button, you can completely sync File Expert from top to bottom.

Oh ho, but don’t think we’re done yet! File Expert will also help you send files. You can huck stuff at your friends via FTP, WiFi, Bluetooth, and even NFC.

That’s a whole lot of functionality right there. And after all, what other file managers do you know that have an FTP client built-in? Truly, this one is a phenomenal number.

Design and Interface

It also helps File Expert’s case that it looks so damn good. All of your files are organized into grouped tabs automatically.

You simply slide between these to see what’s where, and how it’s looking. This is at first rather useful. But as other reviewers have pointed out, a sliding drawer might have been a more direct way to interact with your data.

Still, it’s hard to knock how File Expert is dressed. This is a smart-looking application with a real focus on usefulness. From its sleek icons to its total usability. This one is well thought out.

Overall Value

And at the end of the day, we couldn’t have asked for more functionality out of a lowly file manager. File Expert is perhaps the best at what it does, possibly ever.

It’s not our place to say, but we can say this: If you’re looking for a free, comprehensive file manager to help you get the most out of your Android phone, this is the one to snag.
