Concept and Gameplay
Glidefire Endless Run is the latest addition to the popular genre of endless running games on Google Play.
It features a sci-fi twist with a decent background story but all you really have to do is focus on completing stages and missions and enjoy the game.
The idea behind it is to pioneer your glider ship around, over, under, and through obstacles in order to safely reach the end of the stage.
Each ship has different features and weapons, and it takes awhile to get used to the feel and mechanics of the game. The first thing I noticed about Glidefire Run is that the graphics are VERY sharp and crisp, but my Nexus 7 warmed up very quickly in a short period of time.
I experienced the same thing when testing the game on my iPhone 5 for our review of the iOS version of the game. It’s great to have fantastic graphics, but when your device is working to the brink of exhaustion just to run it, there are definitely performance issues.
This game is definitely pushing the envelope of what today’s hardware can do and that, of course, cuts both ways.
As you play Glidefire Run, you’ll earn crystals and energy, which can be spent on an assortment of items such as new gliders and even new characters.
Glidefire Endless Run is a slick, graphically intense game with tons of potential and lots of replay value. You have to be quick though, it’s a challenge to get the hang of it and difficult to follow along with the background story.
Glidefire Endless Run has a few neat features, but nothing incredibly astounding. The game does allow players to have a fair amount of control over their glider thanks to upgrades, but that’s about it. There are missions that players can embark on in order to earn even more rewards, but they’re available only after all stages have been completed.
Glidefire Run also features dynamic playability, meaning there are new challenges to complete on a regular basis. This is something I really like about the game, mainly because it gives players a reason to keep coming back even if they’ve cleared every stage.
This sort of material helps to keep Glidefire Endless Run nice and fresh as you play it again and again.
Glidefire Run is available to download from the App Store for free. There’s an in-game store for players to purchase items with real money, though it’s nice to see that the game isn’t really a “pay to win” game.
Like other games that provide rich dynamic graphics, this game may challenge your device and stutter or lag at times. If that happens you may want to explore optimization utilities that clean your cache and do other things to boost the games performance and get the most out of your hardware.
Overall, Glidefire Run is one of those games with a few flaws, but tons of potential. It’s a resource intensive game with fantastic graphics so to really appreciate all it has to offer and have the best gaming experience possible you should play it on a high-end Android device.
On the other hand, it’s a free game that challenges players and will keep you occupied even if you have no interest in the background story. Ultimately, the choice is up to you.
Glidefire Endless Run requires Android 2.3.3+. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review.
