Maze brings phenomenal adventures straight to your Android device. This challenging fun game provides a variety of labyrinths that are shrouded in mysterious fog, as you race against the dwindling lantern light to find a way out.
Ever get frustrated with the seeming lack of hard mazes to solve in real life? Then there’s only one thing to say. Maze is the one game you must play!
It will quench your appetite of maze wanderlust and leave you longing for the next level!
Maze uses a level-by-level approach, where once the player beats a level, they then unlock the next level, and so forth. With currently 24 levels, Maze still has the potential for new updates and new levels.
Maze includes a Shop feature which allows the player to purchase several upgrades (e.g. faster movement speeds, increased line of sight, etc.). This shop is rather expensive, with the upgrade options being three tiered categories of 500 coins, 1,000 coins, and 1,500 coins. However, as the levels get progressively harder, more coins become available to find.
Maze also has a Map feature, where the player can pause the game and see where they have been, as well as attempt to do a bit of deduction and guess where the maze exit is. Each level is timed, and as the clock winds down, the amount of light output from the lantern begins to decrease.
However, if a player rushes through each maze in a mad dash for safety, he or she might run into the various dangers that can be encountered throughout the maze, thus the added sense of caution adds a new dimension to the adventure.
The player should be relatively patient as they play this game, especially since it requires a bit of trial-and-error in the exit-finding process.
Appearance and Layout
The developers of Maze did a great job on designing their app. The game loads quickly and is reasonably simple to use. The Shop uses descriptive icons to explain what each upgrade can do, which bypasses any language barriers.
The arrow keys are easy to use and self-explanatory, as is the Pause, Restart, and Back buttons. The player’s character is a simple sprite, but he fits well with the overall theme of the game.
Each level has a constant foggy shroud that continues moving across the screen, which adds a nice sense of foreboding and makes the labyrinth more realistic.
A sole complaint would be that the font type used in Maze can be somewhat difficult to read. Overall, Maze has a decent layout and the appearance is reminiscent of the fun adventure games of the past.
Maze is available on the Google Play Store for free, and since free beats anything else, it gets a win for Value. There are currently no in-app purchases, so it truly is a free-to-play game.
Maze is only about 19 MB (depending on the device), so it’s a quick and easy download. It will take time and mental fortitude to beat each level though, but if you love mazes, dungeons, and adventure, then Maze is certainly just the game for you.
