As the goblin engineer turned the rudder of the airship toward the party, the top gunner launched a missile from the base of their gyrocopter. It struck a critically important part of the engine compartment and the entire construct erupted in flame.
No, this isn’t an animated film, it’s a snapshot of gameplay around a table of miniatures and grid paper. In addition to the games we love to play on our devices, there is a whole world of gaming that got its start with Dungeons and Dragons and is still popular today.
One of the most important supplies for roleplaying gaming are the multi-sided dice that run the game.
If you’re the kind of person that wants a dice roller on your device, you’re going to love the design of this app.
“Steampunk” is a style of art, fiction, and creative material that merges the look and feel of Victorian England with mechanics and steamworks often verging on science fiction.
Steampunk Miracle Dice Roller uses a decidedly mechanical, gears and steam style that looks great on a small device as well as a tablet. The computer generated dice you’re rolling have little accents on the numbers that make them look sculpted from gears.
Concept and Functionality
The app has a rather robust set of dice rolling tools to cover many scenarios the roleplaying gamer might need at the table. The quick rolling menu allows you to tap a given die with a set number of sides, ranging from the familiar six-sided die to the obscure 30-sided die.
You can easily add bonus points or penalties to the role and even flip a rather mechanical-looking coin when needed.
The complex dice roller allows you to select several dice to roll at one time in any combination you may want, and even lets you shake your Android device to roll the dice. Very cool!
If you have a specific arrangement of dice that you roll frequently, say, to calculate the effect of a given character’s special ability, you can designate up to four sequences of dice rolls as presets that you can get to and roll any time without having to add them to the complex dice roller.
As a free, ad-supported dice roller, Steampunk Miracle Dice Roller is a great tool for any gamer.
We’d like to see one more customization option, the ability to designate your own special die with a different number of sides from the ones they allow.
This feature notwithstanding, you should certainly add this to your toolbag before your next turn at the table.
Steampunk Miracle Dice Roller requires Android 2.2+. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review.
