Believe it or not, we here at Android Apps Review are actually quite into sports. As our regular readers might be aware, we’re also very much fans of the trivia genre. Thusly, any game that can combine the two has us well by the hilt. Which leads us to today’s app of choice, Cricket Quiz Challenge, from TuneSoftware, Ltd.
Cricket Quiz Challenge offers a robust, expansive, and often difficult battery of cricket-based questions for players to scrap over.
Offering friend-to-friend or randomized online play, there’s a lot of time-killing potential here, as well as a big risk of fun. For more information, view our whole review below:
Concept and Gameplay
As best as it can, Cricket Quiz Challenge attempts to keep a direct link to the sport of cricket itself. For instance, modeled after cricket, you play the game by squaring off against a singular opponent during a series of overs.
Each over consists of three different questions, each related to a specific category chosen by the player. After four of these overs, a match is decided, and the winner can saunter of to the pub with bragging rights.
It’s great fun, and the match style gameplay setup adds a lot of white knuckled excitement into the mix. Even if you miss the majority of the questions in one set, you still have a shot at coming out the victor. This helps those that aren’t quite as experienced with cricket trivia, but also caters to those that are.
The power plays in the game add another fun dimension to the competition. You can get help when answering the questions by choosing from fifty-fifty, free hit, and stump opponent.
Because the game lets you play against friends and random opponents alike, there’s also no shortage of contestants. We had no problem finding a quick pick-up game, and we doubt the average user would either. Especially if you have a mate or two that’s eager to hash out their cricket knowledge.
Design and Interface
The only real downside to Cricket Quiz Challenge, in fact, is its less than ideal interface. Sure, it’s easy to navigate what’s offered here. Likewise, we found no bugs or issues with the match-making interface. However, it’s just not the prettiest of games we’ve ever seen on the Android platform.
In an age where companies like ESPN can crank out a drop-dead gorgeous fantasy app, or a trivia game to make developers weep, there’s little room for lackluster graphics. But though we’re not fans of the games bright colors, gradient buttons, and image-less menus, there’s plenty of hope for the future.
Cricket Quiz Challenge already has terrific content, including over 800 cricket trivia quiz questions across ten categories, and is only a few updates away from being just as beautiful as any of its competition.
And at the end of the day, it’s hard to argue with an application that’s completely free in the Google Play Store.
If you’re itching to test your cricket mettle against users across the world, then you’ve got nothing to worry about, Cricket Quiz Challenge is the game for you.
Cricket Quiz Challenge is available for free, and will certainly live up to your expectations. Aesthetics aside, it’s a great way to have some fun with your knowledge, especially with random Internet players.
Cricket Quiz Challenge requires Android 4.0.3+. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review.
