As a parent, your number one priority is keeping your child safe in an ever-changing world. Gone are the days of worrying about simple things like being home in time for dinner or quick check-in phone call while staying over at a friend’s house.
If you have kids you need Family Orbit. It’s the perfect family bulletin board and monitoring tool that allows parents and guardians to keep track of family members without being intrusive.
The app gives parents control over location information and even provides data such as driving habits.
Concept and Functionality
Like most location trackers, Family Orbit, from AppObit LLC, does require quite a bit of information privileges in order to be used effectively. Parents must set up an account to function as the primary monitoring source, and other accounts can subsequently be added to the network by the parent.
Once a child is added to Family Orbit, parents can easily see their location. While it sounds like the app acts mainly as a tracker, it’s more like a private family social network. The main screen includes a timeline that shows photos, location check-ins, and even status updates posted by other family members.
One of the things I like most about Family Orbit is the fact that it’s incredibly easy to use. Navigation is very simple, and parents won’t have any issues with accessing everything that the app features.
You’ll spend less time trying to figure out the app and more time keeping a protective eye on your child while they’re out and about.
Family Orbit offers many great features for parents. My favorite feature is the Panic Button, which can be activated by tapping the button inside the app. A 10 second timer commences, and if the countdown isn’t canceled before time is up, broadcasts are sent to other family members letting them know that you’re in distress.
There’s also a handy 911 shortcut that can be used to call emergency services if needed.
Family Orbit also includes a built-in photo gallery so families can share moments without worrying about posting on mainstream social media. This is great for parents who want to protect the privacy of the family without restricting the ability to share media.
Family Orbit is available to download from Google Play for free, but it’s worth mentioning that the basic version is fairly limited. There are subscription options available for parents who have taken the app for a test drive and feel that it would help their family stay safe in a dangerous world.
The free version allows up to three family members and the premium plan ($4.95 per month) unlocks additional features such as a maximum amount of 10 family members, the ability to monitor all photos and contacts on device, and 5 GB of cloud disk space for members to share.
Overall, Family Orbit is a fantastic family monitoring app for Android and iOS that will help parents gain peace of mind while the child was out in the world. It’s a great way to make sure they’re safe without being overly intrusive and I highly recommend giving it a try.
Family Orbit requires Android 4.0+. A small expedite fee was paid to speed up the publication of this review.
