Written Android App Review
Cobra iRadar was deployed for Android devices, and whereas I am grateful to have tools to aid me in my driving endeavors <Ahem> my first raised eyebrow was at the name itself; iRadar. Indeed, Cobra iRadar was initially launched for iOS, and with their aptly chosen name, it makes me feel that Android was an after thought. However, that is speculation, and little more than food for thought. Now let’s look more closely at the Android app itself.

Features:
Cobra iRadar is to be commended for what it tries to do, namely helping you to avoid radar, camera detectors, and laser radar. You are also privy to road hazards which is a bonus. The app ties in to Cobra’s Aura Camera and Driving Hazard Database, as well as Google Maps to offer an abundance of data at your fingertips.
Functionality:
I suggested earlier that the app “tries” to offer this functionality as like many other users, I found stability to be an issue. The iRadar Android app tends to force close, black out, or all together freeze on occasion during alerts, when you need it most. I was testing Version 1.73, released on April 25th, and although it was recently updated, I still found stability to be an element of concern.
I feel the iRadar app is a work in progress, and if stability issues are rectified, it could certainly be a viable, and useful tool for all drivers.
Price:
The Cobra iRadar app is free, and thus it may warrant a download with or without stability upgrades. And, while a radar is not required to utilize the app, you do garner additional functionality with the use of a Cobra iRadar Detector which is currently priced at $125.
