Written Android App Review
Kids Piano is a fun and light hearted educational Android app that is designed to give your little ones a very brief intro to the world of music. With the touch of a finger notes come alive as sounds turn into patterns and even into songs. New to the Android Market, this app delivers a wide variety of options for children to interact with yet could truly use more depth within each game element. Overall the Android app is engaging and the price affordable, making it a great addition for parents on the hunt for something fun and different for the little people in their lives.
Gameplay
Kids Piano Android app is packed with lively graphics and bright colors, making it happy to look at as well as fun to play. In each screen, the user is directed through a series of either notes, scales or songs, allowing children to begin to correlate how different sounds and pitches can string together to create melodies. It is a basic introduction to music, but one that is appropriate for young children and their short attention spans.

Kids Piano
The game can also be switched to an auto play mode, which turns it into a type of music box rather than a musical instrument. There are three modes to Kids Piano, Play Mode, Song Mode and Game Mode. Play Mode allows your child to tryout different notes to their hearts content on either an 8 note xylophone or piano, while Song Mode walks them through playing simple tunes. Game Mode uses the same notes in simple, repetitive games such as Hit Mouse and Find Match.
Fun Factor
When taken for a test drive, Kids Piano Android app held the attention of an active 3-year-old for a full five minutes. This is quite the accomplishment. However, once that time was up, the child was done and wanted nothing else to do with the bright colors and fun sounds jumping from the phone. This is where the depth comes in. If each mode had additional levels or options, it would seem that the game would have better staying power with the Pre-K crowd.
Educational Element
As an educational tool, Kids Piano does exactly what it claims, it will teach your child a basic 8 note sequence and shows them how those notes can be turned into songs. It delivers this information in a clear, well thought out manner that is both engaging and fun for the child. Also, as an added bonus to parents, there are no in App purchases in this game, making it safe to leave in tiny hands that are constantly on the hunt for new buttons to push and explore.
