Overall, Android devices just haven’t been around for all that long. Sure, they have the power, they have the growth potential, they even have the functionality but, what they often do not have are some of those old favorite features that we grew to love on other platforms.

Wave Launcher is one of those Android apps that is going to bring back an old favorite feature to your new device. The App is a quick launch bar that is gesture activated and strongly reminiscent of the Palm-Pre. Here’s the rundown. Wave Launder is designed to bring up a fully customized menu at the swipe of a finger. Simply move your finger up slowly from the bottom of the screen towards the center and the quick launch menu will automatically appear. Then, without lifting, move your finger side to side until the desired option is centered. Lift and the App opens, its that simple. Well, at least in theory.

Functionality
The App loa ded smoothly and was easy to set up. The only problem was in the actual application of the launch bar. At times the bar worked perfectly. Then, at other times it did not. It often took several finger swipes for the menu to engage and then it proved difficult to select Apps. Frustrating is the best word to describe the experience. However, this is a problem that could easily be cleared up with updates or in later versions.
Customization
This is where Wave Launcher shines. The App is fully, and completely customizable. Meaning that the user is able to add whatever they would like and they can do so in whatever order they would like. A huge plus. The reality is that each and every user out there is looking for something different from their device. The days of one size fits all are over, and Apps will have to continually evolve to meet the needs of the end user. Wave Launcher allows for individuality, and in doing so, creates their biggest strength.

Now for the question of the day, is Wave Launcher worth the price? Yes, for the right user. This App rings the bell at a whopping $.99. A bit more than free, but still not a huge investment no matter how you look at it. For those users who are reminiscing about their days with the Plam-Pre and its quick launch bar, Wave Launcher may be just the App they’ve been dreaming of.
