Written Android App Review
Okay, who doesn’t remember Duck Hunt? The grainy sporadic ducks that darted around the screen in random crazy patterns. The dull click of the gun as you pulled the trigger as fast as you possibly could. And, how could you forget, that stupid laughing dog that you tried to shoot every single time he stuck his head out of the grass to chuckle in your direction. Ahh….good times! And now you can have those same good times ready and waiting at your fingertips with this nifty new Android app. One that brings with it a flood of memories from the past and a longing to hear the ever familiar strains of Mario Bros. tinkling their way out of your Android device.
Gameplay
Those of you who remember the old Duck Hunt game will find that nothing has changed. Well, other than the speed of your reflexes and the fact that your finger works way better than the gun ever did. The only real change is that the much loved bonus levels are nowhere to be seen. On the flip side, those of you who have never played this game may find it to be a bit simplistic. But lets be real here, the point is not how great the game is, the point is the memories that it evokes in the player. One fun addition to this new version of Dunk Hunt is the Dog Hunt. It’s really more of a joke than anything else, but for those of us who have dreamed of taking out our wrath on that stupid dog, its a bit like therapy.

In terms of graphics the difference between the old 8-bit Nintendo Entertainment System and what we have become accustomed to today are worlds apart. But, as we have already covered, this game isn’t about what today’s technology is capable of. It’s about capturing the look and feel of something that we all remember and that we all love. On that front, Duck Hunt is right on point. You have the tree on the left, the bush on the right and the dog smack in the middle. In short, everything is in its place.

Ready for the good news? The Duck Hunt Android app is a free! Yep, all you have to do to get your hands on a piece of your own past click a few buttons then watch it load. You just can’t get a better value than that! Is this an App that you are going to spend hours pouring over and come back to time and time again? Probably not, but it will be fun while it lasts and you get the added bonus of being able to show it to your friends and watch while they freak out and run through tales of their own Dunk Hunting past. Now the only question is….what are you waiting for?!?!
