I was excited to perform the Android app review of Trillian as they have been providing one place to connect to all your different messengers for years. Now they are bringing the same instant messaging streamlined goodness we know and love to mobile users with their new Android app.

Do you use AIM, MobileMe, Facebook, Google Talk, ICQ, Jabber, XMPP, Windows Live, MySpaceIM, or Yahoo for instant messaging? Who doesn’t? Or maybe you used to use one of these fine platforms to keep in touch but don’t have the time to sit down at a computer and fire up each and every one to check in with your pals? Yeah, I feel you. So does Trillian.
You can configure any or all of those instant messaging services in one convenient place by downloading Trillian. Sure, it does mean registering for one new account, a Trillian account, but that’s it. This free Android app was easy to review. Log in to or create a Trillian account then set up the instant messaging accounts you want to access. You can even create multiple Trillian accounts to make managing your messengers easier.
Customize your account avatar and user name. Cary on multiple conversations even if they’re on different messengers. Invite new friends to chat. Customize notification tones. You can even authorize Trillian to automatically launch when your Android boots up. Or, if you’re feeling shy, turn on “Invisible” mode. You can even use Trillian to share pictures from your phone with your contacts.
There is an online version of this app and a desktop app you can use as well. Anything you do on one app transfers to the other. Trillian combines the best messenger application features in one handy app. Android makes keeping in touch easy with Trillian conversation updates that show up in your notification bar. The only thing that could make this Android app better would be a widget.

Trillian organizes conversations at the top of the app for easy access. Viewing one conversation places others in convenient tabs, simply tap on a conversation to view it. Even with a variety of features, the Trillian app for Android is easy to navigate. Tap the menu button on any screen for additional options, to add new accounts or sign out of your accounts. Press and hold on your user name and avatar to alter your personal settings. Bottom line: this app is easy to use, straightforward and awesome. Five stars.
