Written Android App Review
Who doesn’t remember the old Window’s screensaver? You know the one! The bouncing prisms of light that glowed their way across your screen and back? Well, now there is an Android app to match! Symphony of Colors is everything you remember from the old Windows screensaver along with being OH! so much more. Today we are going to learn more about this Android app that is a blast from the past while also bringing its own spin to the table. There are some high’s and low’s, but overall this is a fun Android app that at least deserves a second look.

Symphony of Colors
Features
Symphony of Colors falls into the category of a “live wallpaper.” Meaning that it is not a static picture but rather one that moves and changes. When you open your phone or other Android device, your wallpaper will be moving and glowing with a life of its own. Plus, you have the ability to change and manipulate the image with nothing more than the swipe of a finger. The result is a very pretty, unique look that gives a bit of personality to your Android background.
Another feature of the Symphony of Colors Android app is that you have the option of customizing your colors. Now, some may see this as a positive while others see it as a downside. What this means is that you set the colors for your wallpaper, and once you do, they do not change on their own. So, unlike the screensavers of the past that faded from one hue into the next the color here is set. Image still moves, colors just don’t change.
Dazzle Factor
Now for the real question. How pretty is it? After all, with an Android app like this one isn’t that the whole point? It’s pretty! It’s shiny! We want to look at it! If we didn’t then why would we load it onto our Android in the first place?
So dazzle factor? Nice…good…just not great. Because the app has a tendency to freeze up and it also seemed to drain my battery a bit. Not hugely, but I did notice a difference when I used Symphony of Colors.
Symphony of Colors
Also, while I like having control over my colors, I also miss the beauty of the change. I’m thinking there may be some middle ground here that could be explored. Middle ground that would detract nothing from this Android app but would go a long ways in making it appealing to a larger audience of users.
Value
Is there value here? Absolutely! In fact, there is quite a bit. The app is free and it works well most of the time. Sure, it froze a time or two during the review, but even frozen the picture was nice. I also like how I can manipulate the image with my finger to get different views and angles. Overall this is a fun app that would make a great addition to your Android device.
