Written Android App Review

On a mobile platform as varied and as unpredictable as Android, having peak performance throughout your working day is a must. One of the most essential parts of your Android device—its battery—is particularly susceptible to foul play, especially when left unchecked. Thankfully, Battery Pro Android app, by developer iVolution Apps, is here to give you a hand.

Functionality

As stated in the app’s Android Market page, Battery Pro intends to increase your battery life by as much as eighty percent. And though that figure is left unjustified, it’s not entirely far off. In fact, Battery Pro does offer a ton of convenient ways to put more mileage on your charge, and in one convenient Android appto boot.

Battery Pro Android App

More than anything else, Battery Pro is a collection of settings that most drain the battery on your Android device. For example, selecting the Boost Battery tab from the main menu produces a list of various utilities (Bluetooth, Wifi, vibration, and silence) that have a large impact on the battery. Each comes with a handy on-off switch, allowing you to enable or disable these energy-hogs in a single flick. The app also offers volume sliders for various phone sounds, allowing you to boost volume on important things, like calls, and keep it silent on less important ones, like your Words With Friends updates. Battery Pro also gives you a more detailed look at your phone’s charge and rate of discharge, as well as the option to clear out programs from a kill-list. Obviously this function is better represented in other apps (like Advanced Task Killer) but the provided RAM clearer is certainly adequate, and very convenient.

Design

On the whole, Battery Pro features excellent design. The app begins and ends with the main-menu, from which single tabs lead to the app’s optimization, research, and task-killer features. Battery Pro is yellow to the core, with green accents along the way for a pleasant view. I do wish a few things had been added here and there, most notably a “kill all” feature in the task manager, as individual programs and processes have to be selected before the go ahead can be give. I also found myself adjusting volume sliders instead of scrolling in the Boost Battery panel, which was irritating and potentially harmful.

Overall Value

On the whole, Battery Pro is an excellent concept that deserves attention. The app is one-hundred percent free in the Android Market, and though all of its features are emulated elsewhere, its price-tag and convenient design certainly warrant it a look. If you’re concerned about your battery life, Battery Pro is a great place to start squeezing more out of the tank, all while gaining a few extra features to boot.
