Written Android App Review
Who can forget countless rainy days playing board games like chess, checkers or Connect Four? Remember Connect Four? Yeah, so do I. In fact, it was one of my favorite childhood games, and now I can enjoy it anytime I want - with or without a second player. That’s right, Connect Four is now available in an Android app.
Gameplay
My Android app review uncovered that the Android game is played by dropping your game piece into a vertical grid-like board. Players alternate turns until one player has successfully placed four pieces in a row, either horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. Of course, this is easier said than done since the opposing player will try to block your attempts or even set you up.

Four in a Line
Unlike playing real people though, Four in a Line allows solo players to adjust the computer’s skill level from 1-10. Too easy? Raise the difficulty level a few notches. Want a challenge? Raise it a few more! Of course, Four in a Line can be played with a friend too, if you wish. But with this game in your pocket, you can sharpen your skills to the point of being able to manipulate your opponent and ultimately obliterate them. Oh yes, this can be one sneaky game! I award five golden stars for keeping a tried and true game as awesome as I remember it from my childhood.
Design
For once, a developer managed to take a classic game and make it more visually appealing. Truth be told, the original Connect Four was kind of ugly – it’s awkward blue feet and yellow Swiss-cheese-like game board was an eye sore for sure. With Four in a Line, you still have the option of using the flat checker pieces as your game tokens, but they also added the ability to use marble balls as well. They also prettified the game board as well by giving it a classy wooden look. There are two different boards to choose from and two different game pieces. Heck, even the menus look good! The developers did an utterly fantastic job making a classic look brand new without stealing any of its original charm and for that I award five golden stars.
Value
Four in a Line has both a free version (with unobtrusive ads) as well as a paid version for just $2.46. If you enjoy these type of classic games, the developer, AI Factory Limited, has a whole slew of these games with both free and paid versions (no ads). You can enjoy chess, backgammon, checkers, Reversi, Tetris, Sudoku, and Go. It appears all of these games adhere to the same quality standards of looking great while keeping gameplay the same as the classic. With these facts in mind, I award Four in a Line with five golden stars for value.
So what are you waiting for? The classics are calling you!
