Written Android App Review
What could make a stalwart game like pyramid solitaire pop in a market full of thousands of Android apps clamoring for our attention? It seems the answer lies at the center of Cleopatra’s Pyramid from GameDuell, a fun twist on the classic game gussied up in dessert colors. Enter a mysterious land where a familiar game awaits.
Gameplay
While playing Cleopatra’s Pyramid for my Android app review I enjoyed pleasant background music and a game board covered in cards. Tap a card that is either one higher or one lower than the active card at the bottom of the screen. When your current card does not support any more moves, tap the deck to the left of your card to draw a new one. The goal is to clear all the cards from the board without running out of time or cards in your deck.
Cleopatra's Pyramid
As I mentioned, this is a pretty familiar game. I do appreciate the added features such as earning stones to build a beautiful pyramid by beating levels, and a gradually increasing level of difficulty. Complete 100 percent of a pyramid and earn scarabs to open additional levels. If you run out of scarabs and cannot afford to build a new pyramid either go back and beat your score on a past level to earn more or purchase scarabs in game.
There isn’t really anything revolutionary about this app, but it is fun. As usual, card games translate to Android very well. The introductory levels also have a built in tutorial making it easier to learn the ropes without wasting time.
Navigation
Navigating Cleopatra’s Pyramid is a snap. Simply follow the on-screen directions to continue, play and build. While you are on a game board tap the upper right-hand corner to pause game play. It is always best to pause if you need to, otherwise the timer might run out and you will have to retry the board. The app’s launch screen also has links to top scores, in-game options, awards and additional games from the developer if you find Cleopatra’s Pyramid to your liking.

Graphics
Cleopatra’s Pyramid for Android has an easy to use layout and user interface cloaked in shades of dusty sand. Deep turquoise touches add some depth and punch up screens along with a dash of gold every now and again. Visually, it’s a clear app. The cards are relatively small but still easy to discern. The Egyptian theme makes the basic game altogether more mysterious and interesting. This isn’t your Uncle Bob’s pyramid of beer cans in the back yard. It’s Cleopatra’s Pyramid and you better recognize.
Value
Like all of my favorite things, Cleopatra’s Pyramid app for Android is free. I doubt Cleopatra was quite that thrifty, but you can have her signature card game for the brilliant price of zilch. The only catch is the in-game purchase of scarabs to continue your pyramid building crusade. If you can exercise a little patience and build your scarab bank account by playing instead of purchasing, Cleopatra’s Pyramid will still be a great deal.
