Having personally hiked in Great Smoky Mountain National Park I was curious to perform an Android app review of Chimani Great Smoky Mountains. To pull its weight this app needs to do more than say nice things about the Smoky Mountains. To my abject delight, it does.
This Android app is perfect for hikers, campers, wildlife enthusiasts, and even has something for visitors who feel better viewing the park from the comfort of their cars. There are lists of trails, waterfall locations, ranger event listings, safety guidelines, bicycling info, lists of facilities, a stellar photo gallery and more. I was three taps away from a list of trails that allow pets or lists of horse ride facilities.
The detailed and abundant information in Chimani Great Smoky Mountains is far from cookie cutter regurgitated National Park Service lists. I already found three new trails to try this fall when I go camping, and thanks to this Android app I have a map to help me get there. All features are built to work while your Android is out of your coverage area, say maybe in Clingmans Dome. So these amazing features aren’t going to leave you high and dry while you are out enjoying the park.

There is an epic amount of information tucked into Chimani Great Smoky Mountains app for Android, however it is still easy to find what you are looking for. The home screen is full of easy to read buttons for each main app topic, and there are a lot of them. The background is a map of Great Smoky Mountain National Park.

Chimani gets extra points for making all their features available while your Android is out of a coverage area. If you are planning a trip, live nearby or are looking for something new to do, Great Smoky Mountains has what you are looking for. Two features would make this app infinitely more practical. I wish it offered users links to sites such as the local chamber of commerce for lodging and food information. I also wish there was GPS guided tour option, but I know that’s asking a lot. Still, this is a pretty practical application perfect for visitors.

To put this powerful national park app in your pocket you’ll be shelling out a whopping $.99. There is also a lite version of this app with much less content. Pony up $.99, you’ll be happy that you did.
