Written Android App Review
If you are like a growing majority of drivers who are irritated with texting and driving, but still are tempted to look at a text while driving, then this Android app is for you. Many drivers think so long as they are not actually typing a message back, that simply looking at an incoming text is okay. In truth, taking your eyes off the road even for a moment can have disastrous consequences. “But I didn’t reply!” Doesn’t matter. “But I only looked at it long enough to silence the phone!” Sorry, not gonna cut it. There is no excuse for being distracted by your cell phone while driving. Explore this Android app review to learn how VeloCT can eliminate texting and driving.
Features
Considering how much of a lifesaver this Android app could be, it has surprisingly few features and options. However, any additional features simply aren’t needed. VeloCT (a play on the word ‘Velocity’) is perfect just as it is. So how does it work?

VeloCT
Quite simply, upon installing VeloCT, you will be given a setup screen with three options:
- Speed (mph): This is the speed at which you want the app to automatically turn itself on. This means GPS must be turned on, of course, but if you are travelling over the set speed, VeloCT will automatically perform its magic.
- Autoreply Message: Now this is a beauty – not only will VeloCT automatically reply to incoming text messages for you, but you can control the auto reply. The default message states, “I am driving so I can not answer right now.” However, you might decide to change it to something more amusing, like, “I am busy practicing my road rage by yelling at other stupid drivers. I’ll reply when I’m done.” You get the idea.
- On/Off toggle: This simply determines whether you want the app to automatically kick on and send the autoreply for you or not.
Couldn’t be simpler right? Exactly. So now you have no excuse to not give your full attention to driving. And just think, you might just be saving lives with this simple, free app.
Value
Ordinarily I would cover layout or graphics before value, but seeing as how this is essentially an automatic and silent app, those are irrelevant. As for value, do I really need to tell you (again) how important this app is? Even if this was a paid app, its value is insurmountable. So many Americans condone texting and driving, but yet forget that reading messages is just as distracting as typing. What if you get a message while driving through a seemingly empty suburban street and you decide to look at it. But the moment you look down, a small child darts out in front of the car, chasing a ball. Had you been watching, you could have slammed on the brakes and/or swerved to miss the child. But if you’re looking at your phone, you won’t know until you hear a dull thud and a bump. Don’t let this happen to you. This is a free app, so you have NO excuse to keep yourself (and others!) safe!
