Written Android App Review
Some games are made for two, such as chess, Mortal Combat and, my personal favorite, air hockey. I can still remember my older brother hurtling polycarbonate pucks across that lit table with the speed of a freight train towards my tiny fingers. I would clutch my paddle and hope for the best. As the youngest of four, I developed an early sense of how to be a good loser. Now there’s a way to harness my air hockey skills on the go, or at least prepare for trips to see my brother. The Glow Hockey 2 Android app from developer Natenai Ariyatrakool puts the classic game at my slightly more grown-up fingertips. Check out my Android app review and you better watch your back, bro.

Gameplay
Glow Hockey 2 Android app is a classic air hockey game. Use your paddle to keep the puck from going in your goal, and do your darndest to get your puck in your opponent’s goal. The first player to win seven goals wins that round.
In Glow Hockey 2 there are four difficulty levels: easy, medium, hard and insane. I gave the easy game a whirl just to get back in the air hockey groove. I won some, I lost some. The cheerful sound effects and fast game play were fun. On a whim, and in the name of performing a thorough Android app review, I went insane (the difficulty level, not the frame of mind). How hard could they really make the game? No big deal, right?
Wrong. Glow Hockey 2 Android app manages to mimic new skills and harder opponents to make this game increasingly challenging while retaining the classic game feel. There is also a two –player option where two users can play on one phone. Or, if you’re like me and have some air hockey ghosts to expel, turn on two-player mode while you are alone and sink goal after goal without interference. It’s nice to win for a change.

User Interface
Despite inherent screen constraints, I did find Glow Hockey 2 app for Android easy to play and enjoy. Selecting your difficulty level and starting the game is easy. I personally found it easier to play with my phone held horizontally, just as an FYI.
Graphics
I love the glowing neon graphics of Glow Hockey 2. They make me feel like I’m in a dark arcade engaged in an epic air hockey battle. In the free version you may customize the colors of each paddle and of the puck, though they are all easy to see. Sparks fly out of your paddle as you play, and as the puck interacts with the game’s graphics they emit different tones. Simple, shiny graphics work well for this app.
Value
Glow Hockey 2 is a free app, though there is a paid version with additional boards and customization options. I think the free app packs a lot of punch and fun into a pretty basic package and will be sticking with that version going forward.
