Written Android App Review

I’m not sure if it’s the dress code, the sweet moves or the license to yell wordlessly while kicking butt, but ninjas rock. And maybe I’ve just watched Ninja Warrior one too many times, but when I found out about Moon Chaser Android app, a new ninja-friendly runner game for Android from developer Reverie, I was stoked. You should be too. Lets slice and dice our way through this Android app review.

Gameplay

Depending on whom their evil master is, ninjas may be for or against saving the world. It all depends. While performing my Android app review, I found out that the ninja hero in Moon Chaser was definitely pro saving the world. And here’s how I deduced that.

In Moon Chaser Android app you control a kick butt ninja running, jumping and flying her way through an extremely hilly course trying to make it to a secret destination before a lunar eclipse hits. If you find yourself rolling through the seemingly endless hills when the lunar eclipse hits, it’s curtains for you and your awesome ninja. Obviously this altruistic ninja is trying to save the world from the lunar eclipse!

Moon Chaser

Ok, maybe I don’t know if this ninja is all about saving the world or not. I do know that Moon Chaser is a lot of fun to play. Speed down hills, let the trajectory take you flying into the sky, land just right and cover ground faster than you thought possible. I’d kill for a check point feature in this game because it’s hard, though a set of 32 missions to accomplish helps ease my pain. Even when you have the controls down and are soaring easily through the sky, there are boosts and constantly varying levels to make it through. Sure, there are a lot of runner-style apps out there. But this one has ninjas. Enough said.

Controls

There is a tutorial section in the Moon Chaser Android app called “Help” that tries to explain the game controls in two screens. It’s pretty much useless. Let me try to help. You tap the screen to start the first level and set the ninja in motion. The entire course is a collection of hills. While your Moon Chaser goes down an incline touch the screen to speed them up. It doesn’t matter where you touch it or how hard you touch it. Just touch it. When they reach the valley between two peeks, take your finger off the screen. The upwards slope will send Moon Chaser flying up in the air.

Got it? Touch while going downhill; do not touch while going uphill. Good.

Use the touch feature to aim your flying ninja at the downward slope of a hill on their way back to earth and keep the momentum going. If you land on the climbing slope you’ll lose your groove and slow down.

Value

Moon Chaser for Android App is free. I’m just nutty about free apps these days. It’s also a lot of fun, partially because mastering the controls is a little tough and once you do the image of a flying ninja is quite amusing. I know what I’ll be doing next time I have to sit in a waiting room.
