Written Android App Review

Who has time to go shopping for post cards? Before the only alternative was spending a lot of time poking buttons on your computer and praying that your printer doesn’t eat the nice photo paper, but no more. Now there’s Postagram, a new Android app from Sincerely Inc. that lets you create custom post cards in a matter of moments right on your Android device.

Features

As a rule, I’m a skeptical Android app review writer, but Postagram got me pretty excited. It also lived up to the hype, and I was making personalized post cards before I knew what hit me. The concept is pretty simple. Put a pic and a message together, type in an address, and send your friends and family a real honest-to-goodness physical post card.

The process is as simple and brilliant as the concept. Choose a photo from your phone, pull one from your integrated Facebook account or take one with the camera right in the Android app. This is a little different than the Postagram app for that other smartphone, because Postagram’s partner app, Instagram is not available for Android. I’m still pleased with the process.

After selecting a photo, Postagram will walk you through a simple cropping exercise, prompt you to add a message, choose an address and approve a proof. That’s it. Away your Postagram will go, in the mail and on its way to your loved ones hands. I appreciate a touch of reality in this digital age.

Practical Application

I used Postagram Android app to create an early anniversary post card for my husband. I figure it will remind him that our anniversary is soon and let him know that I care. What an industrious little post card. In the future, I plan on using Postagram Android app to create post cards on the spot while we’re on vacation, for holidays such as Christmas, Halloween or Valentine’s Day, and as a way to make nice with the in-laws. Consider putting a little pizazz in your personal relationships with Postagram.

User Interface

Creating a card with Postagram Android app is literally child’s play. The hardest part is typing in a message. I do wish the app supported spell checking or predictive text, but alas. As long as you type carefully the app will do all the work for you. Follow the on-screen prompts (they are usually appear in an agreeable orange) to complete your master piece. The app is well organized, easy to use and has just enough color to keep it interesting.

Value

During an introductory period, Postagram has been allowing users to create one free post card to get their feet wet. After that, sending custom Postagrams costs $.99. Wasting gas to go buy a post card, paying for an actual post card and buying a stamp to go on it costs more than that. Oh, and the app? That’s free, baby. So what I’m saying is go get Postagram. You won’t regret it.
