Written Android App Review
A few weeks ago a good friend of mine posted this gorgeous pregnancy photo of herself onto her Facebook page. The pic looked great! I mean, girl was literally glowing. But it was one of those things where something just wasn’t right. Sure it looked like her, but the details kept me coming back again and again as I tried to put my finger on what was wrong. Turns out, the pic wasn’t real….it was created right on her very own Android device!
What! I was amazed! She said that it was the “face in the hole” Android app, and I knew that I had to know more. After a bit of digging I found several viable candidates, and today we are going to look at one that caught my eye, Funny Camera. Funny Camera lets you take pics from your Android and merge them with a variety of different backgrounds. Mostly famous pics or paintings as well as several other fun shots. Literally its like a lifetime worth of Halloween all in one place! See why I had to know more?

My Android app review discovered that here’s how it works. First you choose if you want to use a pic from your Android gallery or take a new one. Then, once you have the shot you want, you choose the background you want to play with. Funny Camera helps you put pic and background together until you are left with a fun end product that is sure to get grins and giggles. Twilight poster anyone?
Functionality
Here’s what I love about Funny Camera, it’s super easy to use. Literally just choose the pieces you want and the Android app takes the guess work out of putting them together. See, photography Android apps are kind of my thing. I’m always looking for that magic one I can’t live without, and the problem with almost all of the choices out there is that they are hard to use. There are too many features crowding their way onto one tiny little Android screen in a way that makes it hard to get anything done!
Funny Camera doesn’t have this issue. The Android app is very straightforward and very easy to use!
Now, I will admit that Funny Camera had a slight issue with force closing. Not all the time, but it did shut down on me twice during my review. Not terrible, but not great either.

Integrity
Now for the downside. I’m not entirely sure that Funny Camera is on the up and up. Hate to say it….kills me to say it! But the permissions are just not what they should be for a non-malicious Android application. There are a few listed permissions that make me question, but the “Retrieve Running Applications” is really the one that makes me stop and think.
My rule of thumb is the fewer permissions the better. And, while Funny Camera has not fallen completely out of my good graces, it has moved itself firmly into the gray area.
So use your own judgment. The Funny Camera Android app is fun. It’s something a bit different and something that you can pull out anytime you are looking for a good laugh. Just do so with caution!
