Features
WiFi Analyzer Android app allows you to track and measure various amounts of info about the wifi networks in your vicinity. It’s loaded with features that will probably be most helpful to technically minded individuals, but even tech newbs will find it useful.
Want info? WiFi Analyzer is packed with it. The list of connection info shown includes (but isn’t limited to IP Address, Lease duration, Gateway, Netmask, DNS1 and 2, Server IP, Link Speed, Hidden SSID, MAC address and more. Users can copy this info to the Android clipboard for easy export to email, SMS, etc.
There are five different info screens, each showing something different, related to the local WiFi networks. WiFi Analyzer isn’t just a static app as you can also choose to connect to networks in your area if you choose to do so.
Graphical Layout and Sounds
One complaint I have is with the overall layout. Much could be improved to make it more intuitive for first timer users. I’m happy that the developers added a handy tutorial option on first use, but some of the layout features needs improvement. For instance, just adding little arrows on either side of the screen to indicate how to switch between analyzer views would be great appreciated. The layout does show a lot of different info and is very helpful overall though. I really liked the graphs that showed different connection strengths (they made visualizing it really easy!).
This is basically a silent app, although there is an option to enable audio under the speedometer-style window view.
Value
For a free app, WiFi Analyzer Android app packs a lot of punch. It may not be quite as easy to figure out as new users may wish, but it certainly has some wonderful features. The scanning strength is also quite impressive, as I was able to pick up signals and their info from much farther away than even my laptop could. I recommend spending some time with the tutorial to get the most value from this great app.
