See Dr. Seuss wanted to write, but wasn’t really sure where to start. So when a friend bet him $50 that he couldn’t write a book using only 50 words, he immediately jumped on the challenge and the children’s classic, Cat in the Hat, was born.
Today Dr. Seuss is something even more than a common household name. His books are in print world wide and have inspired generations of young readers as well as their very own theme park. And they have now made their way to your Android device! No longer will Dr. Seuss be limited by a lack of mobility, with the new Hop on Pop omBook, you can carry this classic tale with you no matter where your feet may go. And just imagine the places it can take you!

If you’re not familiar with omBook, they are simply fantastic! The basic principal is this. OmBook takes classic tales and converts them so they are both viewable and interactive on your Android device. This allows little ones and young readers explore the “pages” on their own while different important features are pointed out to them along the way.
Depending on reading level, Hop on Pop can be set up on Auto Play, where it moves and scrolls like a movie, Read to Me, where words are highlighted as they are read, or Read Myself, where kids move along at their own pace.
Additional features include:
- Association between pictures and words
- Words highlight and are read aloud when tapped
- Custom backgrounds
- Professional narration
My personal favorite feature is the association between the words and the pics. Whenever a picture is touched the words zoom up and are spoken. This helps little ones begin to associate specific patterns of letters with certain objects or actions. In short…it helps them learn to read!

Functionality
As with all omBooks I have worked with, the Hop on Pop Android app worked great. These Android apps are always well thought out and easy to use. And, as they are meant for kids, this is a very good thing.
Here is my own personal test….I hand it to my 3 year old! In this case, she can find the Hop on Pop Android app, open it, make her way through the entire book and then get it to start all over again. Test passed!
Fun Factor
This Android app is a blast and it has earned a never ending stream of giggles from the moment it was loaded onto my Android device. My daughter simply can’t get enough! I love that she is intently staring at the words and keeps going back to the same scenes again and again. This tells me that she enjoys the Hop on Pop Android app and that the wheels are starting to turn in terms of beginning reading skills. The Hop on Pop Android app has definitely found a home on my Android device and I think that it will be around for a long long time. If you have little ones then this is the perfect Android app for precious moments and happy memories.
