Written Android App Review
I wish that I was one of those people who always had a camera in their pocket ready and waiting to capture life’s special little moments. Alas…I am not. I am, however, one of those people who always seems to have their Android ready and at hand. The only problem with this set-up is that I can’t seem to take the fun pics with my Android that I can with my camera. Plus, with both of these choices I still have the extra step of editing on the computer before I can really make my pictures shine.
I want to remove a step! And this is why I’m on a quest. A quest to find that perfect photo editing Android app so that I can snap the shot and then make it fun without ever leaving my Android device.
Today my Android app review quest continues as we take a closer look at Magic Hour Android app, the newest member in the Android photo editing race. Magic Hour seems to be a strong contender, but I’m going to need to take a closer look before I can make that final call.

Features
Hands down the features are what makes this Android app shine! First off, not only do you have about a million combinations of choices to work with, including 40 filters, 8 vingettes, 23 textures and 12 frames, but you can also download additional filters absolutely free. Or you can use some of the preloaded options and customize them to create your own.
What does this mean? It means that your photo editing options are endless! Literally you are only limited by your own imagination and by the amount of time you are willing to put into learning the details of this unique Android app.
The downside to Magic Hour is that it drastically limits your photo size and crops every edited photo to square whether you want it to or not. And when I say drastically, your photos will all end up at 0.4 MB….that’s it! My friends, this is not a size that is going to blow up well!
Functionality
Now we are into the gray area. Even as I sit down to write about this I am feeling totally bummed out because I really REALLY wanted to love Magic Hour. I mean, this Android app has everything I’ve been looking for. (I can even deal with the whole picture cropping thing!) It just also seems to have quite a bit more than I bargained for.

First off, let me say that the Magic Hour Android app works great. It let me edit any photo that I wanted and I was always happy with the way things turned out. Plus, I love how I can load my edited photos straight onto my facebook page.
What I DON’T love are the permissions. This has to be one of the longest permissions lists I have ever seen and I really can’t see the point of many of the ones that are listed. For example, Make All Background Applications Close. Even the Android Market makes the note that this is never needed for a normal application. And that is just the beginning! All said Magic Hour comes packed with a whopping 10 permissions, of which 5 or 6 fall into that gray area we were talking about. This may be a great Android app, but this is just a greater risk than I am willing to take. Uninstall.
Value
The full version of Magic Hour Android app will set you back a fill $1.99. Is it worth it? It would be if it weren’t for those crazy permissions! I just can’t handle that load. However, some of you may be okay with Magic Hour’s behind the scenes activities and if so, then this is a great Android app! You’ll have a blast! Plus, there is a try before you buy free version that will let you take Magic Hour for a test drive before you part with any of your hard earned cash.
