Background Check – Been Verified Android app allows you to search for people by name in specific states or all over the country. Or, plug in an e-mail address to find out what social networks they appear on and view pertinent online content. It sounds pretty simple, and it is.

There is also a function that can scroll through your contacts to help you decide who to perform a background check on, a stored results area for easy access, and a pretty thorough FAQ tab under support.
What about the results? They cover a few main topics, and can include current and past addresses, relatives, aliases, a criminal record search and address property assessment. I tried to perform a background check on myself but struck out. Apparently I don’t exist. So I tried a friend’s name, which came back with more information, but a lot of it was wrong or out of date.
Creeped out yet? I am, but just a little. The inaccuracy of my results makes me wonder about the app’s reliability.
Security Concerns
I am always a little leery when apps request permissions that don’t make any sense, and Background Check – Been Verified has my Spidey senses tingling. Why does it need to access my text messages? What’s up with the app requiring full internet access as opposed to just network access?
It seems I’m not the only user with a few concerns. I doubt the app is overtly malicious, but I will not be leaving it on my device for long.
Layout & Design
Background Check
Despite my skepticism, Background Check – Been Verified is an easy to use and clearly laid out application. The main screen has a clearly displayed credits area to show you how many searches are available before purchasing another pack.
The rest of the app is laid out in clear sections with bold titles and a few basic graphics to punch up the user experience. Nothing spectacular here, but a solid effort from the folks at Been Verified.
Value
Background Check – Been Verified Android app has one clear claim to fame. It lets you perform one free background search per month. Afterward you can either wait for next month to run another check, purchase a single “Complete Background Check” for $.99 or buy a package of 20 for $9.99.
I like the fact that a free search is included and the Android app is free to download, but I know for a fact past Been Verified apps had more free searches included. Such a pity.
