Written Android App Review
I have a soft spot for educational apps, or really anything that puts powerful learning tools in our children’s hands as soon as possible. Kids Learn to Read is an exceptional app aimed at kids ages 3 – 7 that uses multiple learning techniques to help make learning to read fun, all on the go. Finally, an Android app that will make you happy to hand over your phone any time your young one asks for it.
Features
The Kids Learn to Read Android app review was particularly fun for me. I bravely handed my favorite Android device over to my three year old nephew for a little real-life demonstration, and I liked what I saw.

Kids Learn to Read
There are three main modes in Kids Learn to Read. A “Learn to Blend” section helps little ones learn the sound that goes with each letter, and connect them in a fun game to form words. The “Try Reading” section helps kids connect words with their complementary photographs. And the “Make Words” section puts the principles of the other two games to work, with picture and audio support.
I appreciate the consistency of the Kids Learn to Read Android app. Each section uses big, clear letters and picture representations are the same throughout the app. It is obvious that a great deal of thought went in to creating a kid friendly app.
Educational Factor
You may think it’s goofy to discuss the educational factor of an app that teaches kids to read, but hear me out. Kids Learn to Read Android app combines several different learning methods to reach a wide audience of students.
The consistent use of audible and visual cues helps create a unified learning experience. Kids Learn to Read also supports the learners who get stuck with helpful directions throughout the app from a cheerfully voiced guide.
Layout & Design
Kids Learn to Read
I’m not above using insanely adorable cartoons and animations to make learning fun, and the Kids Learn to Read Android app does just that. For example, the “Learn to Blend” exercises are conducted by a fabulous green turtle that uses prompts to slide letters together more quickly to create words.
The way we learn has changed so drastically in the past ten years, and Kids Learn to Read combines new technology with solid principles to create a winning experience. Even in the free version of the app, advertisements are kept out of our children’s faces, and there are no in-app offers that lead your kids out of the safe learning environment.
Thoughtful graphics and an easy-to-use, kid friendly design definitely set Kids Learn to Read Android app apart from the pack.
Value
As I mentioned earlier, there is a free version of the Kids Learn to Read app. The full version, with no ads, costs $3.99. Here in Android land, we are used to getting aps for free, but I think investing in a true treasure like Kids Learn to Read is worth loosening your purse strings just a bit. We only want the best for our kids, I’m sure you’ll agree.
