Written Android App Review

When I think of physics as a subject I tend to gag a bit in the back of my throat. When I think of physics in a game? Well, that is a whole different story and THAT will send me running to my Android faster than you ever thought possible! Physics games are challenging, unique and deliciously addictive! At least…the good ones are!

The question is how to you sort the “good” games from the ones that are doomed to fall into Android oblivion? That, my friends, is my job!

Today we are going to take a closer look at Issac Newton’s Gravity, the newest addition to the Android physics games family. Issac Newton’s Gravity takes the boring world of high school physics and tosses it out the window in favor of fun, realistic challenges that will stretch both your knowledge and your creativity.

How far can you go? Well that remains to be seen!

Issac Newton's Gravity

Features

The idea is simple. Use the tools provided to build a contraption that hits the trigger. Hit the trigger, move to the next level. Get stuck and you can get a tip from Mr. Issac Newton himself!

As I said…the idea is simple. The execution how ever is not!

Issac Newton’s Gravity will push you. It will make you think and make you step outside the “standard” solution set in favor of more inventive and creative answers. It’s a game that sucks you in and leaves you yearning to work through, “just one more level!” Which is exactly what I like to see from these physics type Android apps.

In terms of comparison, Issac Newton’s Gravity has more of a stylized appearance rather than the more realistic look of Apparatus. Both Android apps perform well, but I feel that the Issac Newton’s Gravity Android app presents a bit more of a challenge. In comparison to Cut the Rope, this Android app presents more real world type problems rather than the fun slant of Cut the Rope.

What do I love? Well, a few things! First, I love that you can build and create your own levels. Once you have things just right, you then have the option of uploading your work to the online community where other users can try their hand at what you have created. I also love that you can download as many levels as you would like. These two features work together to allow for endless fun and a game that is never fully mastered!

Issac Newton's Gravity

Functionality

In terms of functionaltiy Issac Newton’s Gravity performed well, but it was not a perfect encounter. For starters the Issac Newton’s Gravity Android app loaded well, but it took two tries for that to happen. On the first attempt the Android app locked up mid-download and I had to start over from the beginning in order for things to run smoothly.

The next issue was found within the game play its self. As I was playing the game it seemed as if things had a tendency to bog down and slow to a crawl. Now the Android app did not force close or slow all the way down to freezing, but it things did slow down to the point where I felt like that eventuality was just around the corner.

Otherwise, the game worked well and was a blast to play!

On the permissions front, I am happy to announce that the list is both small and manageable. This is what I like to see and this goes a long way towards making me impressed with the Issac Newton’s Gravity Android app as a whole.

Fun Factor

So…$1.99. Is is worth it? Absolutely! For a few reasons. First, the game play is realistic and challenging without being overwhelming. To me the Issac Newton’s Gravity Android app would probably be better suited to a tablet, but it played just fine on my Droid X.

And the ability to add endless numbers of levels doesn’t hurt either!

Overall I think that Issac Newton’s Gravity is a great Android app and one that definitely deserves a second look. Especially for those of you who have been officially bitten by the physics game bug!
