Booting up Barnyard Buddies reveals a welcome screen with two choice buttons-Start and Options. The only thing adjustable under options is sound (on or off). Once you start the game, you can tap the sun to change the day to night, or the moon back to day. The game is basically a tap and see what happens game. Tap the sky and a comet might shoot across. Tap the barn and the fun begins in Barnyard Buddies.
Every time you tap the barn, it will begin to shake and an animal noise will emit from within. Tapping it a second time will take you into the barn, close-up view and you can see the animal making the noise. Try this and see if you can guess just what Barnyard Buddies are hiding around the farm! It’s a fairly simplistic mechanism, but it should be relatively fun for little children.

Graphical Layout and Sounds
The graphics of Barnyard Buddies are quite drab. It appears to have been done in MSPaint, or a similar program. However, it is obvious that Barnyard Buddies is a labor of love and shouldn’t be dismissed simply because of its graphics. The animals cartoon drawings are relatively entertaining and should be easily recognizable, even by young children. The layout itself is fairly easy to navigate and users shouldn’t have a problem figuring it out.
Sounds in Barnyard Buddies consist of different animals making different pre-loaded noises. Tap on the barn and the noises will begin, giving you a hint as to what animal is hiding inside. Some of the animal noises are pretty obvious, but others will take longer to guess. The quality of the sounds are fine, but there isn’t any other sound (music, etc) in the app.

So, let’s be honest for a minute- Barnyard Buddies probably is not going to win any accolades for amazing graphics, wonderful game play or innovative design. Yet, it is a free app that will certainly entertain young children, with some humorous moments. Barnyard Buddies may not be the most amazing Android app to hit the market, but it isn’t a total entertainment failure either.
