Written Android App Review
Milk…Bread…Eggs…Fruit Snacks…Yep, this is just the beginning of what my weekly grocery list tends to look like. Some items have earned a permanent place on the list while others cycle through based on the time of year or the moods of my family. The problem is that it is often difficult to keep things straight. I mean, I remember the regulars but between trying to hunt for coupons and keep track of a 3 year old with grabby hands, my list tends to blur throughout my trip until I often forget what I came for in the first place.
Enter the Out of Milk Android app, the new way to keep yourself on track no matter what grocery bargain you are hunting for. Now I’ll be the first to admit that there are other grocery list Android app out there. In fact, there are several. But I will also be the first to admit that Out of Milk does things a bit differently and they definitely have my attention!
Let me tell you why.

The first thing to know about the Out of Milk Android app is that it is crazy packed with features. And I mean PACKED! With just the free version you have the ability to create grocery lists, scan barcodes, create pantry lists, keep a running shopping total and even track prices of specific items over time.
And that’s just the beginning! This Android app seems to do it all and they do it very very well!
What do I love? Well my favorite feature would have to be the price history. See I’m a couponer at heart and I always want to have an idea of what “rock bottom price” I’m looking for as well as get a feel for the pricing cycles. Usually I try to do this on paper or in my head, but having an Android app take care of it for me? No brainer!
Functionality
There is only one word to describe the functionality of Out of Milk….impressive! This Android app delivered on every single count! It loaded perfectly, ran smoothly and did not freeze or force close a single time. Battery drain? Non-issue! Permissions? Easy! And, even better, the three permissions that do come with Out of Milk are each explained by the developer. I love to see this, but it is not something that I see very often!

Here’s a fun little tidbit. While the Out of Milk Android app is free, there is also an Out of Milk Pro Unlocker available in the Android Market for $4.99. Now, the Unlocker is NOT a standalone app. Not a bit. Instead this Android app is designed to literally “unlock” the full menu of features available through the standard free version of Out of Milk. In short, you need them both if you want Pro to work.
Is it worth the $4.99? Well there are a few key differences between the two, but it will depend on the type of shopper you are as to whether or not these features would matter to you. For one thing the Pro version allows you to work with your lists online from the Out of Milk website. You can also share your list and incorporate any coupons that you might have. Good features….but not if you won’t use them!
So in the end its up to you. If you are a standard shopper that just needs something to help keep you on track during your weekly grocery run, then Out of Milk is the Android app you’ve been waiting for. If you are looking for more? Then go for the Out of Milk Pro Unlocker. These additional features really punch up the overall functionality of the Android app and take its ability to the next level.
