Fox Sports is a leading voice for sports news coverage. Now their stellar coverage goes mobile with Fox Sports Mobile, a new Android app that has it all.
I’m always wary of apps that claim to be the best. Fox Sports Mobile Android app really steps up to the plate with their sports app. If you like Fox Sports’ content, you’ll love this app.
Features
Fox Sports Mobile puts all their sports coverage at your fingertips, and does a pretty thorough job of mimicking the user experience you might have catching the latest sports headlines on their website. News delivery is the main feature of this Android app.
Fox Sports Mobile
A general news feed page links users to top Fox Sports stories, and even lets you follow customizable sports headline groupings. Scores are reported daily with recent backlogs and team specific numbers.
Multimedia content is one of the more interesting features of the Fox Sports Mobile Android app. The app houses a plethora of videos, photos and clips from Fox Sports shows such as Beyond the Box Score. The GPS-fueled local section is pretty intuitive.
And that’s it. Fox Sports Mobile isn’t hiding any special features. You cannot comment or share content, although there is a place to submit feedback. Despite the solid coverage, I think the app is boring. You might as well use their mobile site.
User Interface
All that content is organized neatly in a bottom of the screen tab design that makes navigation easy. A dedicated refresh button in the upper right-hand corner also makes keeping your screen up to date simple.
I have to point out the startling lack of a home button in this app, because there isn’t really a launch page. Users get dumped right into the news tab when they launch the app, like it or not. Your Android’s menu and back buttons will suffice for most navigation, or you can always tap on one of the dedicated bottom tabs.
The app also contains ads, which load above the tabs often blocking content. This is not particularly endearing, Fox Sports Mobile. Get it together.
Functionality

As expected from a big name company, the Fox Sports Mobile Android app works like a charm. Each video, picture and page loads and functions correctly. I did not experience any app or performance issues.
Value
At the end of the day I have to say I expected a little bit more from the Fox Sports Mobile Android app. There is no fantasy league support, no commenting, no sharing and a lot of their mobile site’s great extra content is missing.
That being said, Fox Sports Mobile is a free Android app. If you love their coverage and don’t want to use the site, give the app a try. There are definitely better sports apps out there. Check out our Android app review of WatchESPN for a good example.
