Written Android App Review
It’s so much easier to hand your young children your Android when you know the app they are playing has an educational theme. Developer Intellijoy has made it their business to create simple, educational apps that introduce learning and fun to kids of all ages.
Their latest Android app is Kids Shapes, an app that teaches kids the basics of shapes and helps them identify them through audio and visual prompts. If you are ready to put a top notch shape teaching app in your child’s hands, read on for my Android app review of Kids Shapes.
Features
Kids Shapes Android app currently helps your tykes learn six basic shapes: square, circle, oval, triangle, rectangle and rhombus.
Kids Shapes
These six shapes are learned through two different learning modes. The learn shapes mode displays a one of the shapes on a cube. Your child can rotate the cube from side to side, where items with the same shape are displayed. As they arrive on an item, a friendly voice will announce the name of the item.
For example, the first shape is circle. When the blue circle side of the block is up front, the voice says, “Circle.” When your child spins the block to the right a picture of pizza appears, and they will hear, “Pizza.”
In the find shapes mode the voice asks your child to identify a specific shape on the screen. Children can earn fun trophies for identifying shapes correctly three times in a row.
Each of these game modes are clear, easy to understand, and provide positive feedback for learning.

This Android app review, as well as the other Android app reviews for droid phones and droid tablets on this site, are brought to you by AndroidAppsReview.com.
A simple app needs a simply lay out, and Kids Shapes Android app does not disappoint. There are very few buttons to choose from, and a colorful background makes the app fun.
I applaud Intellijoy’s decision not to expose children to advertisements. I do have a small concern because there is a button for additional games in the app, which leads to the Android Market and other Intellijoy apps. Otherwise this app is perfect for young children learning shapes.
Value
Kids Shapes Android app is available for free to download to your Android device. I think the app scope is relatively narrow. There are only six shapes currently in the app, so only very young children learning shapes for the first time will find the app challenging.
However, the inherent educational value of Kids Shapes Android app still makes it a keeper. I specifically appreciate the real life items being used to teach shapes, the helpful interactive voice and the combination of visual and audible learning styles. It’s hard to beat a free education app that is well made.
