Gameplay

Cracking nuts is the name of the game in the Noogra Nuts Android app. You control an insanely cute squirrel with your Android’s accelerometer. The idea is to position the little guy beneath the nuts that come raining down from the sky. Bump nuts back up into the air multiple times to crack them open, then collect the delicious nutty center for a bonus.

Bumping nuts and cracking nuts equals points in this deceptively simple app. Nuts come in a variety of different shapes and sizes, and you can earn bonuses for bumping multiple nuts in one jump. Like I said, this sounds pretty simple. See how many nuts you can crack in 120 seconds then we’ll talk.

Scores integrate with Open Feint for some additional noggin noshing fun. It’s impossible to perfect this game, but there is always room for improvement, hence the addictive nature of the Noogra Nuts Android app.

I didn’t think I’d be hooked, but after a few minutes of playing it was hard to tear myself away. Noogra Nuts is as addictive as a bag full of cashews.

User Interface

As I mentioned, the majority of this app is all about the accelerometer. Noogra will slide from side to side as you tilt your phone. You can also tap the screen to launch your squirrel in the air. The accelerometer still affects Noogra’s trajectory while he is air bound, so there is a potential for some massive points there.

The controls are simple and function perfectly in Noogra Nuts. I had no complaints.

Graphics & Design

On top of easy, addictive game play and a flawlessly simple UI, Noogra Nuts Android app has some wicked cute graphics. The cartoon style work is fun and bright without being fussy. The developers definitely hit a home run with their style.

Sure, there’s nothing groundbreaking or magically different about the graphics in Noogra Nuts. Sometimes less, done tastefully, is more.

Best of all? Noogra Nuts is available for free in the Android Market. That’s right, you just found your new favorite pointless game to play while you are waiting for your bus or sitting in a waiting room.

It’s hard to beat free, especially when the app is solid and seriously fun. You may be nuts if you don’t like Noogra Nuts.
