The app accomplishes this by pulling from iCruise.com’s massive list of free liner information and scheduling. Using this treasure trove of date, users can poll for the favorite locations and liners within the safe confines of the Android platform.
Cruise Finder lets its users search for vacations based on a number of criteria, including destination, ship size, deck layout, cruise line, and a few others. Not to mention that, once acquired, specifics about the cruise, like statistics, itineraries, cabin photos, etc. are all for the taking. It’s a data-rich environment, and one that’s stocked with over 220 ships, 20 different cruise lines, 25+ destinations, and something like 12,000 itineraries. That’s a frightening load of data—some might even call it a boatload.
The Android app also comes with the option to post any or all of this information to Facebook, Twitter, or email. I found this particularly useful, as it streamlines the process of cluing in friends and family about your latest find. If you’re planning a group get-together, it also makes it dirt-easy to share and stockpile information using everyone’s favorite social media networks.
Design and Layout
We see a lot of vacation finders here at Android Apps Review, and we have to say, Cruise Finder sports one of the prettiest interfaces we’ve ever seen on one of these things. All of the necessary information is laid directly at hand, and the touch-based navigational controls leave nothing to be desired.
There are a lot of other pleasant touches, as well, the one we were most impressed by being the countdown clock. Each saved cruise comes with a timer that ticks away the seconds until the boat leaves, enhancing that pre-vacation anticipation, and encouraging more joy out of your next holiday. We also liked the option to get port directions with-in the app, as well as the ability to dial iCruise in-house.
Overall Value
At the end of the day, Cruise Finder is one of the best (and cheapest) vacationing resources around for the Android platform. It’s quick, easy, and comes with enough information to choke a (sea)horse. If that doesn’t sound appetizing, then you’re likely already on holiday—and in that case, power to you, mate! The rest of us still need Cruise Finder.
