The Enchanted Kingdom: Elisa’s Adventure: Written Android App Review

The Enchanted Kingdom: Elisa’s Adventure (HeroCraft, Ltd.) offers one of the strangest, most unique, and definitively engaging collections of any Android game we’ve ever met. If you’re a fan of fantasy, object hunting, match three games, or just plain puzzling, you’ll find something to tickle your fancy here. The game has a bit of an organizational issue, but without a doubt, The Enchanted Kingdom is an absolute steal at its current pricing scheme of $0.99 in the Android Market. For our full thoughts on this excellent Android puzzler, journey beyond the break and reap the spoils!

Concept and Gameplay

The Enchanted Kingdom for Android

As stated, the actual gameplay of The Enchanted Kingdom is a bit hard to peg, as is the story. As far as the latter is concerned, there’s a vaguely familiar plot about a young woman potentially being the heir to a massive throne (or something of the like) but honestly, we wouldn’t ask you to trouble your pretty head about that. Instead, focus on the excellent pastiche of mini-games that comprises The Enchanted Kingdom. The title has players bouncing around from point to point, collecting resources by completing match three mini-games, all before heading off to another area to scour the landscape for hidden objects. Each location yields a new puzzle, game, or challenge, and these tasks must be met head on before any progress can be made.

On the whole, we found this style of gameplay wholly absorbing. With such a variety in game mechanic, it’s nearly impossible to be bored while playing The Enchanted Kingdom, unless you’re a staunch anti-puzzler. We loved the mix of intense match three and timer-based object hunting, as well as the various other mini-games that come along for the ride. At the end of the day, it’s a creative mix that, though it may seem a bit discombobulated, is wholly fun.

Design and Layout

Best of all, The Enchanted Kingdom comes with the excellent, retro style graphics we’ve come to expect from HeroCraft. The characters themselves look like they’ve been ripped out of Chronotrigger, while the levels are detailed and necessarily confusing. We found the design of the object hunting locations particularly enthralling: We often had to use the hints to locate a pesky piece, even though we consider ourselves experts at this sort of thing. Either way, we couldn’t help but enjoy the richly colored and vibrant scenery.

Overall Value

We can’t think of a better possible price for The Enchanted Kingdom than $0.99. For that money, users can enjoy a wealth of gameplay, including a boat load of engaging mini-games. Add to that stellar graphics, an entertaining (if sometimes fuzzy) storyline, and hours of commute-killing playtime, and you’re looking at a real winner in the Android market. The Enchanted Kingdom earns a full four and a a half stars, as well as a recommendation from us here at the Android Apps Review.
