Zoo Club: Video Android App Review

Fans of Farmville and animal lovers will fall hard for Zoo Club, an Android app from Chroma Club where you curate your very own zoo full of fun animals, decorations, buildings, visitors and more. There’s no shoot-em-up gore or zombie apocalypse violence here. This app is pure fun. Next time you reach for an all-ages app with a lot of character, you’ll be happy you took a minute to read our Android app review of Zoo Club.

In Zoo Club you build exhibits, populate your zoo with adorable animals, play mini games to earn extra cash and otherwise create the perfect zoo for visitors to enjoy. Variety is one of the app’s top selling features. Not only can you groom a panda, you can house and breed a huge number of animals, from stegosauruses and unicorns.

Not sure where to start? The game gets you going with a few easy quests. There’s a steady stream of Zoo Club quests you can complete to earn coins and level up with ease.

There are a lot of zoo games out there, and Zoo Club is definitely one of the best. Not only do the constant mini games keep it interesting, there’s a whole social side to the game where you can visit other zoos, make friends, post comments and connect with animal lovers all over the world.

The Zoo Club Android app is actually based on a popular children’s ebook called Chroma Club – The Zoo, and it’s been a big hit with more than 1,000,000 downloads and almost 80,000 five star reviews. One of our only gameplay complaints is that earning coins to purchase more interesting animals can take some serious time.

Layout & Design

Zoo Club

Zoo Club is appropriately bright and cheerful, with clear cartoon-style graphics. The design work is uncomplicated. The animals and decorations are the clear stars of the show, while buildings and other certain graphics are almost childlike.

The effect is rather pleasing. Zoo Club is an unassuming app, perfect for casual gamers and children. However there are a few navigation features that are a bit frustrating. In the main activity menu (accessible by tapping the gold star in the lower right-hand corner of the screen) any time you complete an action the game kicks you back out to the main zoo screen. That means if you want to complete a second purchase or add another friend you have to launch the menu, choose the submenu and otherwise go through all the motions again. It’s a bit frustrating.

Overall Value

A recent set of updates gave this app a bit more heat, including a whole new aquarium game built in for Chroma Club members and free bracelets with certain purchases. At the end of the day, Zoo Club is a delightful Android app with the perfect price tag (it’s free) and no annoying ads. Because of the in-app currency purchase option it is not ideal for young children, and we suggest having app downloads passcode protected if you plan on letting children play. The app is also tablet friendly and gets constant updates and improvements, giving it an extra boost in the value department.
