Just in time for the holidays, FedEx finally released an Android version of their mobile app, FedEx Mobile. Now you can ship with confidence and complete shipping maintenance right on your favorite Android device. What’s not to love?

In its most basic form, the FedEx Mobile app is a package tracker. It allows you to access information about a shipment without even logging in. No more need to fight the group’s mobile site. Just tap in that tracking number and go. You’re done.
Of course, the app does more than that. By logging in to your FedEx account you can view your address book, create shipping labels, find locations, view your shipping history, receive shipping notifications and get shipping quotes with ease.
Yes, all of those features do require you to log in every single time you use the app, but that’s standard Android security protocol in case your phone goes missing. I’m sure there’s information in my FedEx account I’d rather not share with any nefarious characters.
User reviews have been generally positive, with a few functionality complaints and a pretty frequent request for a bar code scanner. Most users, including myself, seem to agree, this is a good starting point for FedEx Mobile, but we all hope to see additional functionality in the future.
Layout & Design
FedEx Mobile
The FedEx Mobile Android app dishes up the data you’d normally access via FedEx’s website, but in a much more palatable format especially on an Android phone. The app is decked out in FedEx’s standard stoic gray with touches of purple and orange. It’s pretty appealing and straightforward. I expected no less from a company with this much weight to throw around.
Functionality
I have no functionality complaints about the FedEx Mobile app. Each search was fast, gave me the information I was after without any fuss and did not bombard me with any unnecessary info. Consumers seem to agree. So far the app is trending four out of five stars in the Market, and our Android app review process found the app to be right on par.
Overall Value
With so many other package tracking apps on the market, FedEx Mobile simply had to be free. So it is. This app is easy to use and provides frequent FedEx users with much more information than other off brand tracking apps. If you have a lot to ship this season or work with FedEx a lot, there’s absolutely no reason to skip this app. Download it now and may all your shipping this season be merry.
