Paper Zombies: Written Android App Review
Alright, somebody messed up and failed to release one of my favorite zombie titles of all time on Android in October, so this is a belated love letter to Paper Zombie, a hilarious fright fest told through the medium of paper from WildBit Studios. This game gives me the zombie slaughtering action I crave without grossing me out with a bunch of bloody scenes. Needless to say our Android app review of Paper Zombies is a light hearted shot to the head.
Gameplay

There are 60 levels of fun in Paper Zombies, that means there’s plenty of first person zombie slaying to go around. You’ll use whatever’s at hand, a box cutter, shot gun or a handy exploding duck, to defeat gaggles of the undead. Along the way you’ll also try to save the poor humans wandering through the graveyard at night.
To be clear, we’re talking 60 levels of paper warfare, full of hilarious zombies made out of paper. They look kind of like the block heads from the animated adventures of Gumby, only created out of construction paper. For your killing skills you’ll earn zombie bucks to up your arsenal, making you the lean mean Paper Zombie killing machine we always knew you were.
Levels are organized in groups of 12, creating five distinct zones. The app integrates with Open Feint for achievements and a little healthy competition. The graphics in this app are hilarious and the gameplay is fast paced and a lot of fun. Don’t even get me started on the awesome soundtrack. The game is played to a funky version of the Phantom of the Opera theme song with hip hop overtones. It’s up beat, plucky and perfectly suited to this quirky title.
Functionality

Paper Zombie
Unfortunately Paper Zombie has a propensity to freeze on the Android OS. It made for a relatively frustrating gaming experience. If your screen gets busy you might run into some functionality issues, and there are no suggested fixes on the app page.
The interface works well, and choosing a level is quite easy. But that freeze puts a kibosh on some of my Paper Zombie Android app dreams. Such a shame.
Overall Value
Even with the run problems, it’s hard to turn down Paper Zombie. The app is entirely free, as long as you ignore the urge to buy in-game currency to upgrade your weapons early. This is the kind of game that’s sure to make you smile while unleashing your secret hatred of paper mache. Who could ask for anything more?
