Written Android App Review

Vanity: We all have it, and after all, it’s the drive to look good and know it that keeps us in front of the mirror morning after morning, even when we know we’re late to work. But have you ever wondered just how you really “stack up” compared to the global population? We mean, how do you know exactly how attractive you are? If only there were a socially acceptable way to ask the masses! And with RateMyPhoto by developer C8apps, you can now do just that. The app allows you to view and rate others, and if you’re feeling particularly cheeky, you can even upload a photo of your own for public inspection—in return for an average rating, nonetheless. It’s an engaging package, and for our full thoughts on this hot-or-not app, check below beyond the break!

RateMyPhoto for Android

As stated, RateMyPhoto is like a public rating board, allowing you and all the other Android and iPhone users to upload a hot photo, and then receive feedback. This feedback doesn’t come in the form of dangerous pros—we had our concerns about self-esteem—but in a single number on a one to ten scale. Theoretically, this is the same scale one uses in a bar to describe the woman in the back corner with a margarita: Then again, we’re not sure if this is actually a scientific measurement or not. Regardless, every time you rate an individual the score is tallied in conjunction with all other given ratings, producing a mean average that that person can use to solidly say how attractive they are to others.

All in all, it’s a fairly straightforward process, and one made simple by the gorgeous interface. We had our concerns about nudity, but to the best of our research, we found the app’s moderation superb: There’s no adult content here, only truly curious people looking for a number to assign to their God-Given-Goods.

Design and Layout

All in all, we do have to hand it to the developers for their quality app design. RateMyPhoto bears a lot of similarity to app’s like Lightbox, but with a more dedicated focus. Booting the up lands the user at a screen where a gender for rating can be chosen, and then it’s straight to the rating process. We appreciated the speed of this up-time, as well as the simple scale that’s produced with each picture. Our only complaint, in fact, is that the numbers do not light up when touched, making it hard to tell if we actually gave the rating we desired or not.

Overall Value

Considering RateMyPhoto is free in the Android Market, you’ve got nothing to lose by giving it a go. If you, or someone you’re acquainted with, is curious about their appearance, there’s no better way to receive definitive and qualitative feedback about your body. All in all, RateMyPhoto isn’t for everyone, but for those that like the idea of the app, it’s solid gold.
