Maya Pyramid: Written Android Apps Review
If you’re looking for a new game, you can’t go wrong with a title like Maya Pyramid. This app turns counting to 11 into a multi-stage, pyramid solitaire style game that’s a lot of fun and easy to play.
Gameplay
Maya Pyramid is from the folks you brought you Cleopatra’s Pyramid, although the latter is a bit more traditional solitaire than the former. In Maya Pyramid you’ll be presented with puzzles of cards displaying numbers. It’s your job to pair the cards together to add up to 11. If you get stuck a draw deck at the bottom of the screen displays two cards at a time, and there are fun boosts, a helpful joker card and other ways to get ahead in the Maya Pyramid shop.
As you defeat the levels you’ll earn bricks that go towards creating your very own Mayan pyramid. There are 28 stages to this game with 70 different level designs for tons of gameplay. We can attest to this app’s addictive nature. It’s the kind of game you start playing, then look up half an hour later and wonder where the time went.
We’re big fans of this unique twist on pyramid solitaire. But how did the app hold up to our rigorous testing? Read on as the mystery unfolds.
Functionality
Maya Pyramid
Maya Pyramid is fun to play, sure, but does it work as well as it plays? The answer is yes, and sometimes no. While the main game functions and navigation options work most of the time, it’s difficult to tell if you’ve selected a card. The selected color and the regular card color are just too similar, which can make playing a bit confusing.
Also, we experienced a brick glitch. When we completed a second level brick challenge the app offered us the wrong set of bricks to choose from, creating an unfortunate design flaw in our otherwise perfect treasure pyramid. Occasionally the touch interface was a bit unresponsive, especially while choosing a pyramid brick to play or start.
Other than these few issues, the game is good. And, on the grand scheme of things Maya Pyramid is an extremely well made Android app. We think it’s much smoother than Cleopatra’s Pyramid was in its early days.
Overall Value
As long as you don’t mind dealing with advertisements, Maya Pyramid is a perfect choice. It’s a ton of fun to play, made pretty well and doesn’t cost a dime. This is just another great app that reminds us why we love the Android platform. Go get it, play it, but don’t blame us when you lose track of time.
