Sparkle Toy: Video Android App Review
Reviewed by Valerie Lauer
Sometimes you just need a little down time, and the Sparkle Toy Android app from Igraikra Team is a great place to find your inner Zen. This app makes the most of your Android’s electrical field monitor, for beautiful and relaxing results. So if you’re in the market for a way to turn your Android into a beautiful light show that’s sure to sooth, our Android app review of Sparkle Toy has you covered.
Features
When you launch Sparkle Toy the screen is covered in a faint blue pattern. Touch the screen and the blue particles will come running, attracted to your finger’s electric energy. Touch the screen again and the particles will split, turning red and dancing around your touch. Three fingers on the screen turns the particles yellow, and four fingers turns them purple.
Although the app description encourages you to pop on some music to synchronize the app with, sound does not affect it directly. Nope, it’s all about your input. By running your fingers across the screen, tapping it in different areas and generally fussing at your Android’s screen, you’ll create beautiful patterns and colors. Sparkle Toy is meant to engage you and chill you out, so in that way music does enhance the user experience.
And that’s it, really. It’s like a digital Tesla toy, great for getting your mind off work or making it through that long, boring presentation while looking busy. It’s a pretty simple app, without a lot of fussy settings or extras. We’ve got to admit, it’s pretty chill. Thankfully the developer will be adding more to it in the future, because it’s almost too simple in our opinion.
Functionality
Sparkle Toy
Sparkle Toy maintains a slight delay in the electric field reaction but it’s certainly intentional. This brief lag causes cool shapes and scattering particles to cover the screen in beautiful patterns so that the app’s light show isn’t concealed by your digits. We think it’s beautiful.
Otherwise the app works quite well. Every once and a while it may have gotten stuck ever so slightly, but thanks to the chill nature of the app it’s nearly imperceptible, and usually just makes the screen look more interesting. At the moment Sparkle Toy is extremely one dimensional (or, technically, four dimensional since it can produce four different colors) but the developer has additional graphics and shades in the works. We bet this app will really shine once it’s had a few updates.
Overall Value
If Sparkle Toy sounds like the kind of app that’s right up your alley, we suggest getting in on it now. It’s well priced at just $.99 and there’s more to come. We love that Sparkle Toy comes in an HD version since it looks so cool on our Xoom (check the video review) and can’t wait to see what’s next for this very chill app.
