Call Guard: Written Android Apps Review

We’ve all been there: You’ve got that one person, or even group of people that call incessantly, blowing up your phone at odd hours of the night and causing you endless amounts of frustration. Do you ever wish there was a way to silence all those pesky irritations on your Android phone? Well, with Call Guard by developer Incorporate Apps you can do just that. The title allows you to create whole lists of people to shut out, or even just a few numbers. Likewise, the amount to which they’re blocked is left in your hands, allowing for an endless amount of customization. It’s a great package, and for our full thoughts on the app, check below beyond the break!

Concept and Functionality

No, we aren’t talking about the Seinfeld soup Nazi, but what Call Guard does best is back lists. The app allows users to specify an individual or group of individuals to be blocked, and then allows them to do so in a variety of ways. First and foremost, you can of course block any incoming calls as needed. Furthermore, you can block these with one incredibly cool feature: Auto pick-up and hang-up. Yes, you heard that right. Your phone will automatically pick up and then dump the caller, without you having to touch a button. This is great if you want no questions asked, and simply want a caller gone. Best of all, since you can turn off the on-phone icon and notifications, you’ll never even have to know, if you don’t want. Now that’s what we call blocking!

Another point in Call Guard’s favor is its never-ending complexity. We’ll spare you most of the details, but the added white list and black list are pretty cool. This allows you to create two pre-prioritized lists for easy blocking. The blocking, of course, also extends to SMS messages, if you’re being harassed there, too. All in all, it’s quit the robust package for such a low price.

Design and Layout

In terms of layout, we liked the simplicity Call Guard is sporting. The app looks and feels like the utility it is, and we appreciate the honesty involved there. A simple tabbed list provides all the functions you could need or want. That being said, we feel like there might be a way to make the app’s learning curve a little less steep. What we mean is, there are a lot of features to understand. Perhaps preset settings for certain needs could alleviate most of the headaches right off the bat. Aside from this, we haven’t got any complaints at all, as the app functions brilliantly.

Overall Value

At the end of the day, if you’re in desperate need of this complex and comprehensive of a blocker application, $2.99 is hardly much to pay. The app will handle any and all needs, and will do it with functional style, to boot. In other words, this is a must-have, and comes recommended with the utmost of pride. Good job, lads: Call Guard is a real gem.
